That shot was in 40 feet of water. That Harbor Seal scared the crap out of me. He came up from behind me and grabed my fin. I almost jumped out of my wetsuit. he was very friendly and kept nipping at my fins.

This was a place called Sea Fan Grotto, on the inside of Catalina Island. We have lots of seals and sealions around the coast. This little guy hangs out in this area and likes to make friends with the divers that come by.

Hey Badfish, Great pic! I too am a diver and NEVER get wet w/o my camera. I used to dive locally ( Santa Catilina Islands and such) but for the last 11 years I've only been diving warm water. But when I see pics like this in kelp forests I still remember my great cold water days. There are nothing as playful (in the water) as seals/sealions. Glad you had a beautiful day.
