I appreciate varying opionions that have been brought to the table (in an respectful manner) in this forum.
We have seen the divisions of political ideologies reflected here.
My question is this:
What can be a bridge for different ideologies to come together? (Yes we all smoke cigars or are in the market to sell, or be involved with them), but it is soooo easy to focus on our differences...
Did you know that people of different cultures, races, nationalities, ethnicities have more in common than not?
Before I start singing "Imagine" or "Cumbaya" please share your thoughts about what we can do to bridge rather than divide ourselves...

I ain't here to bridge ideological differences, I'm here (infrequently) to talk about cigars and shoot the breeze. If I want to get all touchy-feely on the internet, I'll visit www.wishywashyhippycrap.com.
Opposing opinions are healthy. If we all thought alike, what kind of world would we be in? Liberal ideology wants everyone to be the same. You know what? Sameness is repulsive. So instead of worrying about "bridging gaps," why not worry more about fostering an environment where people can coexist without having everyone think the same way?

If someone were to, say, hold a two-by-four, and, say, apply the business end of it to the side of, say, your head, then that would be sort of a bridge. Wouldn't it! Especially if Binder and Doc walked across it, holding hands in the solidarity befitting brothers-of-the-leaf (not the other way) while you moaned in admiration (mixed with some discomfort).
We're here to talk about cigars, not continually get baited and trolled by politics, xxxxxxxxx1, and such ilk.

God help me ... I'm beginning to agree with Binder on too many subjects. Assuming that such a bridge is desirable (and that's a HUGE assumption), I'm pretty sure that it's not going to have its genisis on the CA forum.
Comminality...we smoke and talk about cigars..and cigar accessories...other than that...I could care less..when smoking a good cigar the world stops and I get off for as long as possible and enjoy my smoke...no wife, no kids, no politics.......
Yes as you can read my "Signature" - "There is no true enlightenment..." and I agree that opinions that vary are wonderful. I am not asking that we all give it up and put on the silver one piece with the "V" in the front and all start talking in a monotone way.
What I am saying and the reaction I recieved all the more validates this being the "hard question". What is the bridge?
Maybe you are right cigarmanron...
This is a medium of certain anonymonity. Its easy to blow off people that are faceless. They are just blips.
Too bad...

this is an excellent thread/ initial post. tolerance I think is the key word. if we embrace a culture that breeds or fosters intoleramce it will be hard to build bridges. If we are tolerant and acccept different points of views then bridges can be built even though disagreements or different points of views exist.
I don't care to build "Bridges". I will tolerate many, many opinions, but if I see by the title of a post that I do not care for the discussion, I do not even open it. I'm over 65 years old for cripes sake, think Archie Bunker here. No I'm not a bigot, I'm just not 100% "Politically Correct" I have never been much of a touchy-feely person. Except with the opposite sex.

I've been reading your posts for years and do not see that you represent any of these values AT ALL. You are intolerant, hyperbolic, and generally illogical. Sorry to say this, but your post makes me laugh.

yadda yadda yadda....wow sounds like CigarLife is trying to pull some kind of mind-control mumbo jumbo. As long as we have differences of opinions, there will never be a bridge...whatever that "bridge" may be. Many of us have certain ideologies that others will not agree with and that's what makes us different and able to discuss these issues here. I don't think I want to see different ideologies come together. I try to keep an open mind and take everyone's words with a grain of salt. On a political platform, yeah, I can see us all having conflicting ideas, but but as cigar connoisseurs, we're not "dividing ourselves."
All this thinking has caused my brain to hurt, but nothing I'm gonna lose sleep over....I think I'm gonna go smoke a cigar now.
Baseball is like church. Many attend, but few understand.
That's exactly what I am doing "pulling some kind of mind-control mumbo jumbo".
Let me clarify something here...
I am not stating that all people here in this particular forum need to have a bridge for each other. I guess what I am trying to state is this:
This forum reflects the strong convictions of people ideologies (especially polictically). Diversity is necessary for growth, however bickering and division for the sake of division is counterproductive.
What can people in general do to have a united front on things? And yes I know this is not a touch feely crowd. I get it. I friggin get it.

Exactly.
And no, I'm not signing anyone's gay marriage petition.

This is way, way too deep. I think you picked up the wrong smoke. The cigar is the brown one...step away from the ganja and pick your cigar back up and smoke that one.
