I have a Colibri ambiance Lighter. I refilled it yeterday with venti premium gas and Tried lighting a cigar.
I clicked it, the flame lasted about 2 seconds and it cut out and started puffing and spluttering. What is cousing this, could it be foulty?

I have been fighting with a Zippo Blu for months now, same thing happening. You can try to dump the fuel and refill, might have gotten some air in there. You can also try to turn it upside down and smack it against your hand a few times and then blow out the area the flame comes out of. Some times it works but the problem still is there for me. Zippo has had it twice and can't seem to fix it. Hope you have better luck.

I just got a reply back from my OCS(online Cigar shop)

He said to try the following.
1. click slower to allow more gas in to the chamber.
2. turn down the flame hight.

3 bleed out all the gass and refill

Take a can of compressed air and blow the jets out. They get clogged from fuel deposites. Or you can take a q-tip and alcohol and clean them and blow them out. Works every time for me. I have to do it every few months.

With Colibris, the death clock starts ticking from the first time you use it...

I have a Brunton Helios and I abuse the hell out of this lighter by lighting fireworks and starting camp fires, and it still works like a charm.

Good for cigars too.

If you have access to compressed air and I mean 100 psi (pounds per square inch), 6 bars of pressure.

Pocket lint, cigar particles, dust and carbon start to clug the orifices of the lighter's burner & aeration ports. A good shot of air for a minute os so usually does the trick for me.

You can use gas station tire pump air.

As for the butane/propane mix. I wait till the lighter is empty and I put it into the freezer for 10 - 30 minutes. I warm up the fuel cannister with warm (not hot) water.
It takes 2-3 secomds to fill the light that way.

I have 3 Colibri's, 2 talons and 1 firebird, All 3 are over 1 yr. old.
And Steve, I go beyound abuse, I smoke 2-3 packs of cigarettes daily, 3-4 cc daily and and all 3 lighters work just fine, I clean my lighters out every 2 weeks with compressed air(from wally world) and I use Colibri's fuel too, I use to use robberson fuel, but was getting get ripped off by the amount of fuel in each can. And I also use my loghters for some other fun as well, lighting up M80's and other fireworks too, damn those waterproof wicks LOL !
And Yes, my Lungs are clear too, I get Xrayed Yrly.

It is a common problem caused by air getting into the gas chamber. The only way to avoid this is before you refill it make sure you get all the gas out of it. Click down so the gass valve is open and refill it. After a couple seconds release the valve so it is shut off and continue to refill it so it is full. This forces all the air out and fills it with gas only. Good to go each time!

Haha, so true. The word is out; Do Not Buy Colibri (or Tiger or Firebird). If you want a long lasting well made lighter or cutter, get a Xikar. Not because of the name, but because of the Unconditional Lifetime Warranty. If anything goes wrong (besides losing it of course)it gets replaced.
