rbihari said that I should introduce myself, so here goes…. Oh and BinDerSmoke said it should be in here.
I’ve been smoking cigars fairly seriously for the past year and a half. I love rich, full-bodied cigars.
My first cigar was a cigar that I sneaked from my Dad. It was a completely dried-out “It’s a Girl” cigar. Oh, God… it was so bad. By the way, I was 12 and I inhaled. That cured me from a cigar interest for some time.
My second cigar experience was much more enjoyable. I was playing craps in Las Vegas. (Craps, for those who don’t know, is the dice game…. not something you get from bad Mexican food.) This guy was betting big bucks and smoking a cigar. He was standing next to me and asked if the cigar smoke bothered me. (I thought he was a gentleman to ask.) The aroma of the cigar was wonderful and I told him so. I think he was surprised that I was not complaining about it. He asked me if I would like one. I don’t know why, but I said... sure. He ordered another cigar, showed me how to cut and light it, and we proceeded to win a BUNCH of money together. I rolled the dice for a very long time. That is a good thing, by the way. It really was fun.
I bought a few cigars, here and there, but never smoked regularly. Then about a year and a half ago, I went to a cigar tasting and charity silent auction. They had Arturo Fuente Hemingway cigars. I really enjoyed the event, even though I was one of the only women there or maybe because of that….who knows. I found the cigar smokers to be fascinating. I didn’t meet one boring person; all had a story to tell. And I really enjoyed the cigars. Anyway, long story to short, I won a box of Hemingway Maduro Classics, Spanish Lonsdales and a small humidor.
Since that time, I have smoked an incredible array of cigars and have become sort of a mascot at my local cigar shop, Leaf & Ale. I have noticed that cigars taste better when you smoke them with interesting people. I really like the camaraderie.
I’ve met some really interesting people in the last year, including Eric Newman of Cuesta-Rey at an event in Key West and Benji Menendez of Partagas, this week.
I love to golf! I love college football, especially the Tennessee Volunteers. I love Texas Hold’em Poker and not to toot my own horn, but I can take your money. Hee hee. I like to ride motorcycles and I have a Harley Road King Classic. Love to travel, scuba dive. I like scotch and great wines. Love old movies. Like all kinds of music, from Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Classic Rock, Country… Actually, there’s not much I don’t like, except for maybe, Rap. I play the guitar… Blah.. Blah..
I hope this is enough for my intro… I don’t know all the rules..
Oh.. current favorite cigars, no particular order, Camacho Corojo (including Liberty and Diploma), Punch Rare Corojo, CAO Brazilia, Hemingway Classics, Gurkha Class Regent
Welcome to the forum. In case nobody has told you yet, look at the links on BinDer's post for great info. Then, if you really want to get a lot of responses, ask the following questions: 1. Is there such a thing as pre-embargo cuban cigars? 2. Should I age my cigars or just smoke them right away? 3. I have a box of White Owls, (substitute - Acid cigars, Thompson cigars, 100 cigars for $19.95, cigars that are too long, too short, too rotten, etc) that I want to trade. 4. Why do people keep talking about Stogie and Sheep at the same time? 5. Does BinDer have good days and bad days? 6. Are all the people on this forum really decent conservative republicans or are there some of those liberals who are responsible for all the problems in the entire country? 7. Does anyone have any opinions about Irag? JUST KIDDING AROUND, these are all hot button topics that get people flamed. Welcome and have a good time here.
Welcome to the forum Melissa...glad to see there is another woman here who likes Harleys, the Tennesse Volunteers, and Texas Hold'em (and by the way, I really don't think you can take my money...let me know if your interested in coming to Atlantic City for a friendly heads up match ), as well as cigars. Enjoy your stay.
