Do not know if fumy is a word. But I have been working on my vinotemp for a while now. Last night I just finished the last section. I took out the metal racks and am putting in Spanish cedar shelves. I sanded down the shelves and finally was able to put them in the vinotemp. After about an hour I waited to go open the door so I could smell the cedar. Well you can definitely smell the cedar but the smell at the end of the smell, smells like a fume. Imagine if the Spanish cedar you smelled smelt like a gasoline but not gasoline. Well it's hard to explain. But it's fumy. Maybe its just a lot of cedar I have shelves and trays. I don't know. Any insight would be great from you guys, if it should smell that way.

Also I did clean it out countless times with Baking Soda to get rid of the plastic smell.

treated with chemicals to prevent warping and things like that.

i use cedar planks in cooking and make sure that its untreated and all natural otherwise it will give the food a really bad taste and could pass the chemicals onto the food.

Hmmm I don't know. I don't see why it would be treated? I think it would have smelt that way when I received it. But it smelt like cedar.

How is the cedar attached? Brass screws or an adhesive?

Is is possible you punctured the cooling coils?

Is the Vino new? It's probably just the smell of the plastic inside.
Wash it with warm water and unscented soap.
