It's not a matter of being nice to a "noob", it's about being decent towards a fellow human - especially a BOTL.

Binder definitely is not a true BOTL, IMHO and definitely doesn't get it.

I actually feel sorry for him, he has a classic inferiority complex and acceptance issues.

I originally made an attempt to find a post for a guy and then gently ribbed him about how noobs get their reputation for not being able to find things on the board. Then I get nailed to the cross because I am not NICE to noobs? I guess I need to start posting smiley faces when I mean to be humorous.

As for not being a BOTL (Brother of the Leaf, aka tobacco lover) that is unfair. You don't know me or who I am. I'm the guy who shows up at poker night with both Cuban's for the guys who know cigars and mooch sticks for the lamers who smoke half and stub it out. I don't ask a dime from anyone, just the satisfaction of everyone posing with cigars is enough for me. I bring tons of cigars on a 2 day vacation, not because I am afraid of running out, but because I like to share or trade if I run into a like minded enthusiast. I send cigars to Iraq and "bomb" brothers in need all the time.

Just because a guy likes to rib noobs a bit doesn't make him an ogre. Ask a drill sergeant why he isn't "nicer" to his recruits. I'm not about making friends, I have those. I am about making savvy cigar enthusiasts. I've made it my lot on this board to take pot shots at the silly requests. You on the other hand take shots at my character. Who is the troll?

"I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the very blanket of (enthusiastic cigar opinion) that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it, I rather you just said Thank You and be on my way"

My apologies to Jack Nicholson and Aaron Sorkin

Believe me when I say I love to "rib" people.(We call it gouging them here in the South) But I generally don't start in on somebody until I've gotten a chance to "know" them. And I go easy on the beginner until they've gotten their feet wet a little.
Once you've been around a little plan getting gouged by me if you seem like the kind of chap that can dish it out and take it. If you're easily offended I won't even fool with you in fun or otherwise.

Can you feel the love Binder? Wink

...come in here dear boy, have a cigar, you're gonna go far.....

You are right, it is not fair to personally attack someone whom I don't really know and I apologize. But, your persona is only that of which you portray through your posts on this board. If you want a different persona, act differently.

Just because someone is new to THIS board doesn't mean they are new to boards in general. The internet has been around for a while now, at least since Al Gore invented it.

I have been around long enough to have read many of binder's posts. You don't "rib" newbies, you berate them a lot. Clearly evident by your sig line.

lalalalalalala, I can't hear you way atop Mt. Olympus, home of us cigar gods.

Also, look at my actual posts to noobs and look at my article. You will see a difference in how I vent my frustrations in a funny manner in a long post versus how I actually reply to noobs in real life. Yes I bust chops for dumb questions. I however answer intelligent questions when they are asked.
