Its really not any different than anything else in life. There are the rules for "everyone" and then there are the rules for you. You need to grow a relationship with your B&M guys. Know their names, kids, etc.. Make sure they know and say your name each time your in there. Buy stuff, give them cigars you like but they don't have, be glad to see them etc..
Most important, when they finally do make the call to tell you something good coming in, don't delay! Get your butt over there now and spend lots of cash. My B&M tells me there is a limit on Opus, yet when I walk in the store I just pick out the boxes I want (when they come in obviously). I have earned the right to get some special consideration, and at the end of the day he needs the sales.
I am not rich, but I do spend a good deal on cigars during a year. I know what I like, and I try my best to steer my purchases to them even though they are higher than Internet prices. As a result I get boxes of the good stuff at MSRP, and a friendly call when something I might be interested in comes in.

Excellent advice Bama. I do the same at my club and have been a member for a long time, so when something special comes in I get the call first and without limits.
I would add that when they have Cigar tasting events with free food and drinks I tip the girls that work there VERY well for bringing me another drink. Works great.
I have yet to try an Anejo yet, but I don't see any problems obtaining some from my local B&M. I was there about two weeks ago and they have not received them yet. But at the time, they had 4 boxes of Opus for $9-$14 and two boxes of ESG 20 and 21's for $20-21. It leads me to believe they'll have the Anejos in abundance at a reasonable price. I'm really looking forward to them!
Hrm, surely there are many that come from my side of the coin, but I live in a fairly small town (despite the fact that we have one of the largest/busiest ports in the country), without only two stores that seem to have a very poor stock. Only one of them has FFOX, and sells them for $80/stick, to which I have chuckled politely at the owner when he tries to pursuade me to purchase one for special occasions. Their supply of "decent" cigars is just that, decent, at most. They carry plenty of your everyday smoking fare, but when it comes to the truly exquisite cigars, they just don't seem to keep up on it.
Enough about that though, on to Anejo's, hrm? I've yet to see any on a credible online store, so how would you folks suggest going about acquiring a few? Not even sure they would be up to my liking, and it blows me away that some of you have the funds on hand to walk into your local B&M and purchase multiple boxes at a time, but is there some secret underground black market for yummy cigars that I just haven't been turned on to yet?
I would like to get my hands on few of these to try them out, but I'm at a loss when it comes to finding them.

Smoked a 48 last night and this release is much better than the last one.
One thing though, why the hell does Fuente ship these so wet? Last time, I could have rung my box of 48's out like a dishrag. Even this time, the Sharks had some fuzzy white mold on some of them.
Smoked 2 #49's over the weekend (3 per customer, but for regulars its per trip to talk to what Bama was saying) at my shop and I will have to agree with you "cord," they were a little on the damp side. One re-light on each stick, but brought the full flavor an anejo offers.
Most enjoyable...

My plan is to rest the boxes for a while, and then drybox them prior to smoking. My assumption is that the Anejo wrapper is thick just like on the VSG and Opus.

I agree, the rest of my anejos will sit for close to 12 months before I give them another shot.
My hand was shaking to try them... obviously I gave in to the temptation!

When I use the link I get the October 9th Issue(CAO America Issue- Vol. 12, Issue 19), that is why I made that comment. Any pointers on getting the anejo one, because I would really enjoy that...
Sorry to get mildly off topic everyone.

I had the same issue - I bought two of the 77s, and one of them is moldy (didn't discover this until I removed the cello).
So many cigars, so little time...

Unfortunately, I also found this out the hard way. With box purchases of these I now would actually remove them from original packaging (but not the cello) and dry box the lot for a couple of days before returning them to their box and placing it in the coolerdor.

I have not had an issue with them being wet. My biggest issue with them has been consistency. Which is serverely lacking.
