I just received the final adoption decree. My son is now officially mine, sharing my last name.
My wife and I began the adoption process in May, 2005. We have had custody of our son since October 15, 2005; one week after he was born. Since that day we have been slowly working through the adoption process. It took over two years, mostly because my lawyer drug his feet. He is a friend of mine and offered his services, free of charge. I harbor no ill will, I’m just glad it’s finally over.
Now I am sitting on the porch with a little celebration smoke. One of my favorites, an Ashton VSG Wizard.

I too have adopted, and I think that is a special bond. You chose this kid, unlike natural birth where you take what you get. I also have a biological child, and thats special in a different way.
Congratulations, and I think you selected one heck of a good cigar for the occasion.

Congrats indeed it takes a special person one that is not selfish to have a child of there own. Someone that adopts is even more of giver ( i better tread easy i don't want to insult anyone). Look what i am trying to say is God bless you all. I wish you and yours all that makes you happy.

Congratulations, bro. It's a long, difficult process, so I am glad to hear that everything went okay.

Congratulations. In your heart, I'm sure he was yours before the official paperwork. Glad to hear of your success. The best part is the birth certificate. Under father, it should have your name now. Good stuff.

Absolutely. He has been mine for 2 1/2 years and I cannot imagine life without him. You only need to look through my photos to see that. I think I have around 3,000 photos of him. It sure does feel good to know it's final.
Thanks for all the well wishes. This is a good community for sharing our joys and sorrows.
