My "400 count" box is bursting at the seams(with about 200 in there) and there are 3 more or so boxes I want to get soon. Does anybody out there have this humidor, it might come under a different name in the US.
http://www.humidordiscount.com/Humidors_Adorini/Habana.html
I know there are cheaper, nicer, bigger boxes to be had in the US but I have checked out a lot of the sites and most don't ship to Europe, those that do find that the shipping cost is $300-$500 extra!
I don't really want to go the coolerdor route yet (the wife wouldn't be too impressed with it in the living room)
Anybody? Thanks.
Even if somebody has another model of the Adorini brand, if they could give me an indication of build quality or how it holds humidity would be great.

AnRyan, I'll make a suggestion if I may. See if this Humidor is to your liking.....

I know that it's a different set up then what you are currently looking at, but I think it would suit your needs. I purchased one about 1-1/2 years ago and could not be happier. It's big, will hold about 6-8 dress boxes in the bottom and has never given me one bit of trouble. I check the site and they will ship to you!!

Thanks for that Elaw.
That is the kind of thing I'm looking for.
I checked the site and the shipping is $137 UPS or $111 USPS, which actually isn't bad compared to other quotes I have seen.
However, what I forgot to mention is import duty I would have to pay here on goods from the US. The revenue commissioner literally makes it up as they go along.
What they would do is add duty to the value of the humidor plus the shipping which would double it again and bring the final price from $280 up to $500 or so, it's scandalous but that's what they do. I have had it happen before. I have also had a shipment of cigars from Switzerland go "missing" in the last month (Switzerland is not in the European Union so Customs check packages every now and then).
The post office says they're in Customs and Customs say they can't find them, i.e. they've been smoked by some guy in a government uniform. My Swiss source posted the same shipment to me again(workplace this time) free of charge which was good of him, those arrived.
The other site has free shipping within Europe and as it is shipped within the EU there would be no duty as I would already have paid tax within an EU member state.
Thanks for the help though, it's a nice looking box, glad it's working out for you. There are far fewer affordable humidor suppliers this side of the pond.

I had no idea that it would cost that much! what if a US citizen purchased it and sent it to you as a gift? would that make a difference?

It's a fantastic Humidor and if you take out the shelves in it you can probably fit 10-12 boxes. Much better than the other humidor you were considering. Beware, this won't be enough room for your collection Wink

I know what you're saying Elaw. Customs get suspicious with big packages though, it's not worth the risk. If you're offering to post it, it's very very kind of you. I may yet take you up on it but I'll keep looking around in Europe first.
I know too, jmunro, that it won't be enough room, it's always the way!
I thinking now about Ebaying my 400 count and just going for an end-table cabinet.
That would also keep the wife happier than a living room full of humidors.
Thanks again for the help, very kind of you.

I was thinking that. I have a business acount with UPS and my price on shipping is ussually about 30-45% less than the average customer. My thought where if it would save you some money, its really no problem to ship it to you. What would the customs cost be on 150 bucks? I went to UPS's web site to see the cost and it said it had some customs BS to deal with. If you could Email me your city and Zip-code and I'll just get you a quote -it can't hurt

Thanks ELaw.
I have sent you an email.
I don't think I will risk it though, customs have been cracking down.
As well as my Swiss package that went missing recently, I had a package of 18 sample cigars sent from Jeff at cigar.com in the US go missing a couple of weeks ago, the post office this time say they have no record of it at all. There were some Padilla Miamis in that package as well as a Xikar folding cutter so it's very annoying. I have no idea what's going on.
I'll be in Spain in a couple of months and I may look out for a cabinet there. There would be no customs issues to have it sent from there.
Thanks again for all the help.
