We're THIS close to a vote on a ban of indoor smoking (restaurants, bars, etc.) that will more than likely pass. There is talk of some compromise, but the aldermen heading the bill don't seem all that keen on the idea.
Personally I think if they're going to do it, ask for a smoking license akin to a liquor license. All it can do bring in more revenue, and technically they have to be approved so there would be control.
As of today, however, things don't look good.

Did Chicago politicians and smoking police notice that their White Sox lighted up after winning the World Series? I wonder if they'll be appropriately punished?
Yep, got the "No Smoking" ban going strong here in Jayhawk Country.

This is the same city council that is also ready to pass a prohibition on foie gras and is in the forefront of slave reparations litigation. Any company doing business in Chicago has to trace their roots and prove that they didn't own or deal in the slave trade. No matter how far back it transpired.
