DON'T go to law school - surely you can find something better to do with your time.
x2, plus there are waaaay too many of us in the market-- I'd hate to be getting out of law school right now.
I did the standard political science major at Michigan and spent most of my time at CCRB and other rec buildings.
If you do go, you must attend a good school and, more importantly, graduate cum laude at a minimum if you wish to have a decent selection of jobs. You can have all the nifty stuff you want on your resume, but believe me when I say that the first thing my eyes go to is the line that says "J.D., University of _______ Law School, [honors], [year]." It's that simple.

well, law school for me would be a way of getting into politics. it seems like every senator/house rep has a degree in law. im just trying to keep some options open, grad school may be an option if i cant find a gov or research job after graduation.
not really a high demand for lawyers right now, but im a finance major in a wonderful economy. but if you do well in law school who says you cant get a great job and be successful

I'm not a lawyer but had thought about it in undergrad days before wanting to become a police officer. (actually we had quite a few lawyers in my agewncy it is a nice help up the career ladder.)
I would ask when do you decide what kind of law you want to practice? It seems like the State is always hiring prosecutors, many opf whom I know jump to either the US Attorney or private practice after a few years experience.
Is it like my experience, the degree and honors only helps with the first job? after that it isd resume and references
Anyway good luck. Become a prosecutor and put guys like Madoff away for life!

I was the token political science major w/a couple minors in pre-law and philosophy.
I just graduated this May, and the one thing I learned was that it didn't matter what the hell your major was b/c when you get to law school you soon realize you know nothing, and if you trying to do anything other than what they tell you to do you will fail out.
If you go to law school I would recommend going to a state school (mine cost over 100k b/c I didn't get into any state schools)--but if you get into a state school you will be looking at 30-40k much more manageable.
Do well on the LSAT.
The other thing is you don't have to be a lawyer to come out of law school, a J.D. opens a lot of doors, and more areas in which you can pursue a career.
