I hate the mans politics and fully believe that he should have been imprisoned over the Mary Jo incident but it's too bad he is suffering from a stroke. He is a very unhealthy person and this could be the end of him. May his passing be painless.

I agree, although it is a shame. If I recall correctly his dad had a stroke and when informed of the situation Rose finished her golf or tennis game before checking on him. Sounds like the Kennedy course is alive and well...

Acording to reports, he did not have a stroke. He suffered two seizures and is recovering at this time. I'm sure he will be back on the trail for Osama/Obama in no time at all.

You sure don't think you are racist or anything?
Once again Lucky, your ignorance shows... First of all, if I were calling Obama-Osama, that would not be rascism. Secondly, if you knew anything about Ted Kennedy and his public speeches regarding Obama, you'd know he publicly called him Osama at one time...

Posted May 18, 2008 07:43 PM Hide Post I don't care what he calls him. I am just pointing that you just did. And if Ted Kennedy did that (which I doubt) he is an idiot.
I'm guessing you did not watch the attached video...

Yeah, an idiot who's been elected how many times? In office since 1962? How many bills has he spear-headed? Seems, to me at least, to be doing pretty well for an "idiot". How are you doing?

Ted Kennedy has represented and served the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for going on a half-century, and will continue to do so for as long as he chooses to. He's "The Liberal Lion", an articulate and effective voice from the left who's written more progressive legislation for America than anyone else in Congress. No less a conservative than Pat Buchanan yesterday praised his continuing ability to put together bi-partisan consensus for that legislation and called him one of the three or four most effective senators in our history. His colleagues on both sides of the aisle respect and admire him.
You may well not share his liberal political worldview... many don't. But to call the man "an idiot" is, in and of itself, idiocy.

And how many times did he get drunk, crash his car, and leave a girl to drown in his car?
Sure he has had a decent career in public service....a lifetime of guilt is a good source of motivation.

Just to be clear, because it's a valid point -- no one here is in denial of that event, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a single person in New England who defends his actions that day.
What we have done is put it behind us, even while we know there's a family that never can. You kinda have to live in Massachusetts to understand how much a part of our cultural and political fabric the man is. A scoundrel, perhaps, but our scoundrel.
And to say he's had a 'decent' career in public service is like saying Joe DiMaggio's career as a NY Yankee was 'OK'.

As soon as I heard the news about the great American swimmer having a seizure I did two things; checked my wine cooler for champagne and my humidor for my best Churchill. I have them both in the ready for when the glorious time comes. Please don't bother flaming me. I'm content in my warm thoughts.

I don't think that he is an idiot at all. Though his politics don't ever cross to my side of the scale he is a fierce battler for his beliefs. My hope is that he recovers and leaves the senate soon to die years from now in a peaceful slumber.
Hell can have him then.
