the government tells us that they won a battle quickly and/or easily. Or that they "have things under control." To me, it seems that the enemy has blended back into the populace or escaped and is re-grouping. I hope they have true control over Fallujah, but I have heard "mission accomplished" before.

True, However we can look back to the wars we fought in the 20th century where we lost thousands of American Soldiers in just hours of fighting. In WW1 we lost several thousand soldiers on the last day of the war when we knew it was over and sending waves of soldiers into waiting German machineguns whould have no impact on ending the war or terms of German surender. We lost more Marines at Iwo Jima than we did in the last 4 wars combined (since Veitnam).

Its like all news and political crap it is just a word game.
