I don't know who is into jazz and the jazz greats, but I just heard that Max Roach one of the last great bebop drummers passed away. I fondly remember lestining to him on my vinyl records along with Diz; Bird, and Mingus on long summer Saturday nights just when I started smoking cigars. I'm smoking an Excalibur in his honor. Don't know if that is what he smoked but that is what I smoked when I first heard him. Had the pleasure of seeing him in concert with Diz before Diz passed away.

"Money Jungle" with Max, Duke Ellington, and Charlie Mingus was the first jazz album I fell in love with.

Max was an innovator and a genius. May he take a well-deserved rest.
