When I was born, in 1962, circumcision was a popular thing in Quebec. So they decided to have me circumsized, presumably cause I had a tight foreskin (or a big ... ).
Anyway, the doctor made me what he called a "half-circumcision" because, and I quote, "In case there is a war".
Why? So if the bad guys invaded Montreal they wouldn't think I'm Jewish and send me to a concentration camp... Weird, n'est-ce pas ? Though we were just 17 years after WWII...

Anyway, to stay on topic, this ritual probably has nothing to do with religion, looks like an ancient local ritual that's more about the place than it's about the people's religion. Because last I heard, tossing off babies from 50 feet high isn't a part of the Islam "culture" that Sheepy is fighting. No people, I wasn't tossed, I am positive.
Female circumcision for example has been exercised by the Pharoahs for thousands of years, and even till now, you'd still find this horrible act happening in the rural areas and among the uneducated classes, be them Muslims or Copts, though the act was banned by both religions and by the state laws.
It's pretty clear that an educated person wouldn't allow his baby to be thrown like that, it's all about illetracy and believing in myths, that's what should be fought Sheep.
