Has anyone tried this? Flor de olivas get a little harsh the second half. So I decided to cut a couple and put them in the humidor, I wouldnt say it totaly went away but it did improve the smoothness alot towords the end of the cigar.

Ive only been smoking for 2 months and already built 3 humidors

I've never heard of this either. To me, cutting and lighting a cigar is a bit of a ritual, so I like to cut right before I smoke. That's just me though.

I don't get how preclipping the cap would reduce the harshness from the tobacco.

Additional airflow? Hopefully you don't have a breeze blowing through the humi.

The only thing I can see from preclipping is a great chance of unraveling.

I know is a litlle unorthodox but it seemed to work. Havent had any unraveling yet, unraveling usauly seems to happen when I use a cutter. Its probly me and not the cutter but I just have better luck with a razor. It takes a little longer but works better for me.

Hi all,
I agree with csmithnj. I cant imagine it would do anything but possibly start the un-raveling process. Certainly would not do anything to age/mellow out the "other end"
Buy good "Bones " and you wont have to worry about harsh taste. Also when your cigar goes out blow all the smoke out of it (one time only ,otherwise it will look pornographic), then when you go to light it up again blow through it again......... I dont think they are 100% but at least you blew out the acidic gasses w/ the smoke that usually helps alittle helps
