Tomorrow I will be going to a fund raising dinner for the Ruffed Grouse society and was nominated to provide cigars for the whole table of I believe 8. Knowing that those at the table only smoke an occasional cigar at best, I bought a box of Macanoodles. They are going to see those cigars and get all excited all the while I'll be sitting back with a Gran Habanos Corojo #5 at the first part of the night and later be having a Torano Exodus Silver Robusto.

Good times!!

Let those uninitiated smokers at your table take a puff from that Gran Habano and see what shades of blue and green they'll turn

Those Toranos aren't much more than the Macs. You should have bought a box of those and shared some good cigars with them. We all needed someone in the beginning to help us find the good cigars. O Man helped me get away from the Macs and find the larger universe of cigars.

The Gran Habanos are quickly becoming one of my favs for sure.

I disagree about the Torano comment. I have smoked several boxes and find that they have much more depth and flavor than the macs. But thats just my opinion. Either way you look at it they beat out the Macanoodles hands down.

I think he meant that the Toranos don't COST much more than the Macs, but would be worth 100x more because they are so much better. And perhaps by offering a nice cigar like the Silver Exodus, you would initiate someone into the pleasures of cigar smoking properly.

Okay, if that is what was meant, then boy do I feel like an a$$. My apologies to csmithnj, and I guess this would be a good opportunity to bash a noob. Its all good though. BTW, thank you smokinhot for "opening my eyes".

The toranos cost less than macanudos and I have seen them turn a noob green. They exodus silver is too strong for some people when they first start smoking. I have given them out to many people that couldn't handle them. You don't even realize it anymore after the fourth or fifth box.

No prob FoCo, I didn't mean to make you feel that way. I just read it differently than you did (who knows, "I" could be the one who read it wrong!).

PMP...really? I thought it was rather mild but delicious. Then again, my husband can't smoke them, every Torano he's ever tried has made him green for some reason. Which suits me just fine because then he leaves my T's alone!!!! (And I have a whole box of Silvers on the way!)

That is what I meant.

If the Silvers are too strong, I'd still try another Torano or something similar. Just trying to get the point across that there are good cigars that cost the same or less than the Macs that we can share with new smokers. Even a nice box of Fuentes or something similar.

I love the silvers as well. Just a great deep smoke.

A nice box of Padrons would hit the spot as Saul mentioned (although he does mention Macs as well).

I wouldn't subject anyone to a Macadoodoo, even a noob. I'd buy something medium bodied yet not to spicy or harsh, like an HdM or if you insisted on a mild cigar, buy Gispert Torps.

Thanks csmithnj. I have been smoking cigars for around 10 years and am enjoying it a lot...more in fact than when I started. I know I haven't posted a lot. I have lurked quite often but I plan on being a more regular poster.

Welcome to the boards. I think as punishment, you should be forced to smoke one of the Macs.

That would be letting me off pretty easily, at least from what I've seen for some of the other noobs around here. I don't mind Macs, they are just in the ultra mild category and I have moved beyond that. But if thats what it takes...lol

I thought it was just one mac I had to smoke. Well like I said if thats what it takes.
