Hi all, I hope I used the right term. I tried searching but man what odd posts you find with the term marry
Anyway I needed a second humidor as the whole tupporware-dor thing was not for me. I found a place that sold a humidor with 25 smokes (5 of 5 different types) and free shipping for the price my local store would sell just a humidor for. Anyway as expected of those cheep smokes 15 are tasteless. 5 are good and 5 are really nice, so even counting out those 15 I made out well.
Now I now have 2 humidors and I can get all my current smokes into the new larger one. I looked into marrying cigars thinking maybe those 15 couls be saved by putting them with some strong maduros like mx2's, but reading up on the process.... well I guess it just does not work. Plan B- what about putting those lesser cigers into the spare humidor with some flavored cigars like ACID? I'm thinking that they can't make those any worse and it is better than plan C of tossing them in the trash.
Now until recently I only bought cigars 1 or 2 at a time from the local store trying out different brands, so I'm still a total newbie in the cigar world. Do those of you with more experience think this just might work?
My vote would be to go ahead and throw the lowsy 15 into the trash and focus on getting 15 quality smokes to take their place. Life is too short to smoke crappy cigars.

Well in my opinion I would put them into a tupperwear container or what ever and then keep them for friends who don't actually smoke and know what a good smoke is and just let them smoke them so you can save the good ones for you.

I have heard many opinions about cigar marriage: some say it's a myth, some say it's reality. Don't know, never tried to do that myself. However, even those who believe it does happen, contend that it takes years and years.
So, do you think it's worth keeping those tasteless cheapos for years? If I were you, I'd just get rid of them - either toss them away or give to occasional smoker friends who don't care much about the flavors.

As has been stated, marrying those dog rockets is gonna take more work then they would ever be worth if it would even work. But Daniel had a good idea of saving them for a friend who doesn't know a good cigar from a bad one. It's oh so painful to give even a cheap padron or a sancho panza to a friend who smokes *gulp* black and milds!
