pre light, the cigar is physically appealling....
almost 7inches in length and a box pressed 46-48 ring gauge.... (my estimations here)
a dark heavly scented wrapper surrounds some strong, earthy smelling, dark tobacco....

the cap gave easily under my black xikar2....

took a dry puff before lighting, and was once again surprised by the strong taste/smell that entered my mouth/nose....

I gently toasted the foot of the stick with my xikar pulse, and then took two gentle puffs to get ii fully lit....

the draw was very easy and smokey, similar to the larger length/gauge Ashton vsg's...

the smoke had a very strong tobacco/earth flavor and there was no need to double puff, as one was enough to fill my mouth with smoke.... the ash is dark grey, with patches of black throughout....

the dirt/earth taste remained for the entire
smoke, and another after taste, almost like the smell/taste of kiln dried Spanish cedar, and leather, was present as well....

the flavors, burn, and taste were consistent all the way through, and fans of strong/earthy cigars will definently not be dissapointed.....

Matt

The Decade wasn't a sample...he had to buy it. They sold the box toward the end. Matt split the box with another guy there.

After reading this I want to try this cigar even more. I am jealous of Matt. I definitely think he got a good deal.

what the hell happened to my first post on this?

The Decade was handed out during the Scotch Seminar at the big smoke Vegas. Good description- the cigar is a 6.5 inch by 52 ring gauge toro and I like the term "earthy" to describe it.

So after reading these reviews of the RP Decade, and hearing good things, I finally scored some today!

I've been waiting for my local B&M to get them in, but nothing. So today while I'm picking up a few bottles of wine at Specs, I check their humidor...and what do you know, Decades are in!

The robustos were priced at $7.20, toros and torpedos at $7.99, and I didn't check the other size they had. A box of robustos was priced at $120...I think I'm going to smoke one and if it lives up to the reviews, I'll go get a box.

Does anyone else shop more than now and then at Specs? I was comparing there selection today, and it's pretty good compared to my B&M, and the prices seem good on some things, bad on others.

I'm not a big RP fan but I do love the Edge Maduro. That being said I'm going to smoke these with an open mind. My father is giving me a few of these tomorrow.

Nice reveiw of what is becoming my fav. I will have to try the decade if I can find them. I know I have only tried the vintage so far, but if the decade is anything like it, and it I'm sure I will enjoy it.
