I was reading this article posted on CA about the new men's accessories from Colibri. This got me thinking about what jewelry is and is not appropriate for a man to wear.
Personally, I think men should limit themselves to a watch and a wedding ring, that's it. Cufflinks are also fine if you're wearing a French cuff shirt. However, nothing should have diamonds or jewels on it. And neck chains and bracelets are right out.
The exception would be the Sikh who are required by their religion to wear a braclet and ornamental sword. Now, I could get behind more men wearing swords. The might be cool.
Any thoughts?

It depends on the college, I suppose. I'm not going to get any mileage out of wearing a University of Minnesota ring in a meeting. No one is going to say, "we better take him seriously, he's a Minnesota grad."
I much prefer the English custom of regimental or school ties. I rarely wear ties, but I would start again if I had been a member of the Queen's 52st Fusiliers or whatever and had the tie to prove it.

I wear a watch, wedding ring, and college ring. Fortunately IMHO, I had the foresight in 1985 to opt for a college ring that I would describe as a signet ring (smaller in scale and no stone on top, just a flat surface that has the UGA arches on it and the text of the University name on the perimeter). I wear it because it looks nice and reminds me of some of the best years of my life, definitely not to impress anyone else at work. I would agree that most men in my workplace do not wear anything other than the wed/ring and watch.

The only jewelry I wear is a Rolex Submariner watch I bought from the PX in Spain back in 1984. In SSpecial Forces at that time all the guys wore one and it was just a Team thing. I have worn it everyday since I bought it and it still looks and runs like new.

I got a Rolex GMT Master ('72), and the wedding band is still on the Dog Tag Chain, but they stay in the top drawer, and I still ware the silver belt buckle I won for shooting my 1st "100 straight" and winning "B" class Singles Trap. The next day I did it again as an "A" class shooter, but took the money that time.

I think it takes a real mensch to pull off a pocket watch, but if it can be done, go for it. They're really elegant, especially on a three-piece suit. And since it's an heirloom, it has meaning and isn't just "puttin' on airs."
