Usually when my freinds get together for a cigar outing, someone always wants to have a cigar ash contest. Who can get the longest ash? Nobody wins anything, just a little bragging rights...

Anyway, I was told this story about a lawyer back in the day (when smoking was allowed in court rooms) that would stick a wire in the middle of the cigar. As he smoked the cigar through the trial, the ash would get longer and longer to the time when he has to give out his final disertation (No clue if that's what it's called - so sue me ) Anyway, the jury was so viusally intoxicated that his ash was just about to fall, that they wouldn't really listen to what he was saying...They were mesmerised (sp?) by the long ash... Long story short, I guess he won a lot of cases this way.

So, has anyone ever tried it? I'm not planning on damaging a prime cigar just to try it, but was wondering if anyone has ever heard of it? Done it?

Maybe we can post pics of long ashes here. Just a thought.

I heard that story too recently, except it was a friend's uncle or something, and he used a paper clip...

When I was younger and dumb enough to smoke cigarettes there was always the trick of putting a toothpick in the cigarette and the ash would stay. Cigarette + toothpick = lol I wish there was a puking smily face. Regards.
