WELLINGTON (Reuters) - A woman in New Zealand says she is breastfeeding her pet puppy because she wants it to protect her baby daughter as they both grow up.
Kura Tumanako told the NZPA news agency Wednesday that she had started breastfeeding the Staffordshire bull terrier pup after her baby stopped taking her milk.
"I didn't want to waste it so I gave it to Honey Boy," she said.
According to NZPA, Tumanako said she had fed the dog twice a day for the past week but would probably wean it off in about six weeks' time. Her baby, now 2 months old, is on bottled milk.
"I wanted to raise it (the pup) with my baby," she said. "I wanted to bring it up with a baby. It will protect her as they grow up," said Tumanako, who lives in Hastings in New Zealand's North Island.
"He drinks more than the baby. It doesn't hurt, but it's a little bit ticklish."
Hmmmmmmmm . . . I'm not sure I get the logic behind that one. But it's not really supposed to be logical.

It's another world in New Zealand, I can see the logic behind her thinking...I suppose the dog will feel a closer bond now and feel as though she is with her pack... and protect them accordingly

that cant be good for the dog human milk probably does not have the same vitamins and minerals and all as dog milk. that dog is gunna get sick. i wounder if shes gunna keep that bond close when that dog is mature.

Whether it is true or a little hoax it is funny to picture.
But babies drink formula not bottled milk.
There was the story of the woman who brings her mastiff to the vet. She says to the vet that the dog tries to mount her and it scratches & hurts her. The vet says " and you want me to castrate him" She says "no, no, no, just cut off his front claws"
