Actually,

I always wanted to be a pilot and love spitfires.

They would be sweet to fly.

I have always liked the Spitfire as well. I also like the Corsair, P51 Mustang and the P38.

I quite likes the Corsair too. very powerfull engine and gull wings. the mustang from what i remember was not only based on the later versions of the spitfire but the first mustangs were also made in England.

Great long-range fighter.

When I was in College, I worked at a small airport. There was a guy who kept a TF51?, I think that was the designation,(basically a P51 with dual controlls) there, Anyways it was a 2 seater trainer. I kept it washed and fueled up for him. He came out about twice a year and flew it. He took me up once, and it was amazing. So I would have to say that was my favorite.

A few years ago a B 17 came to hartford. It was $350 for a ride. Now I wish I had gone for it.

Saw a bunch of Warbirds up close at Westover Air show.

Toured Palm Springs Air Museum which was nice.

Uncle flew B 17's in war and ex father in law flew P51's in WW2.

I have a real soft spot in my heart for every one of those planes, and the men who flew them.

It took balls of solid steel to get into one of those - fighter or bomber - every day.

No advanced avionics or navigation aids, no guided missiles, just a bit of armor plate, a couple of machine guns and guts.

And those aircraft...! Form follows function, but every one of those piston-engined warbirds has a sense of power, grace and dignity that is somehow missing these days.

I don't think I could ever name a favorite - I love them all.

Nice paintings.

As a kid in the late 50'sand early 60's I would fly U-Reelies.

I had one of those P-38 Mustangs and a Mezzerschmit.
