I recently purchase a large cabinet humidor that holds 3,000 cigars. I have it up and running now. There is shelving for displaying boxes as well. Should I remove the cellophane the cigars are wrapped in, in those open boxes I have in the humidor?

I am. I have a couple of boxes I will not get to for quite some time due to travel. My question is, is it better to leave them in the cellophane or not. In store walk in humidors I have seen it both ways. What are advantages to either way.

Unless you have OCD and feel the urge to pull cello off your cigars, I don't see any advantage to taking them off. They're only on to protect the wrappers.

In the store you see it both ways b/c some brands box with cello and some brands don't. I would'nt think the store owner goes around taking the cello of only some cigars. This is really the age old question its a matter of opinion. Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving !

Nice class Wacco.

Leaving the cello on is just fine.

Well, the subject has been covered about 2K times. Some must be scared of the "Find" tab.

If the cigars come with the cello on, I leave it on. If they come without cello, so be it. Most people don't realize that the cello material *does* breath quite well. If it didn't, cigars in cello would become moldy mess in no time.

Elcaribe, leave the cello on. If you don't like the look of the cello in your display then just remove it. I personally leave the cello on.

Thanks for the info. Sorry if this question has been asked before. I'm not new to smoking cigars, but am severely vision impaired and thanks to some new technology I can actually 'read' email and internet now. My son takes me to the cigar store once a month and I ask the owner a lot of questions but I hate to take up his time. This is my first humidor now and I am finally able to learn about what is best to do. Happy Holiday's to all and THANK YOU!

Welcome to the group and the world of cigar smoking. I've asked the cellophane question, too. We all have. There must be 2,000 newbies on here now. Happy holidays to you.

I recommend that people take off the cellophane before smoking, certainly.

If you're a nice guy and appreciate cigars and the CA community, store'em as you wish - w/ or w/o cellophane, but take off the cellophanes before smoking the cigars.
If you're not a nice guy, take off and smoke just the cellophanes, and send the cigars to the addresses that the members here will provide you.

Welcome aboard!
