Do you guys (& ladies) save your C.A issues? How far back do they go? I started with the Jack Nicholson issue back in '95 (I believe) & have every issue since. I was looking at the older issues when it was "hip " to be smoking cigars... everyone from super-models to yuppies .....I wonder how many of them actually still smoke? I wonder how many of them now joined the anti-smoking crusade? Any thoughts?????
My subscription only goes back two years but I do save them.

I've only been subcribing for 5 years. A few years ago I helped move some of my father-in-laws stuff out of the basement and there were boxes and boxes of old CA's! Since they were deemed trash, I jumped on them. I now possess a nearly complete collection.
I only keep the issues from the people on the cover that I've admired for a while. I used to keep em all (several years), but it was very rare that I looked at any of them. so.......not anymore.
People aren't smoking cigars to be trendy, cool or stylish. They're smoking cigars because they like them. Because they enjoy the experience. Because for about $5 they can spend an hour sampling one of life's greatest luxuries. -David Savona

I subscribed for a couple years and kept them. Then I read the article about $25K silk and vicuna suits and ended my subscription. It was the last straw, the last bit of frivolity I could possibly stand. I forgave them for the article about where people sit for lunch at the Four Seasons, but then they had to go and publish an article about suits that cost $25K and are not to be worn too frequently lest they disintegrate.
I'm waiting for the in-depth report on gold-plated toilets and silk toilet paper.

I really miss the section they used to have in the front in which smokers would write about their memorable moments associated with cigar smoking. Whenever a new issue came, I would light up a smoke and turn to that section first.
Back in 1998, I had the opportunity to tour Air Force One when President Clinton came to Alabama to view damage from an F5 tornado (I worked for the Governor of Alabama at the time). A fellow staffer, who also smoked cigars, and I had our photo taken on the tarmac smoking a couple of cigars in the shadow of Air Force One. I submitted my "Moment to Remember" story along with the photo. They didn't run the letter, but our photo was in their October 1998 issue.
I'm the tall, fat guy in the suit. The other guy was the Governor's official photographer. I've actually been spokesman for three governors - Fob James, Bob Riley and, the source of my user ID, Gov. George Wallace.
When that picture was taken, Clinton had landed at the Air National Guard base and took of with the Governor to view the tornado damage. While we waited, my buddy and I stopped in at the base exchange and saw their small humidor. If I remember correctly, we grabbed a couple of inexpensive La Unica's, the best cigar they had available, and smoked them.
Needless to say, a couple of weeks later, Bill Clinton revealed another use for cigars. . .
