I remember advertisements for "guns and ammo" tourism in China in the late 80's. The gist was that one could pay to go try almost anything that the People's Liberation Army had in its inventory.
Still though, when you think about it, Firing an automatic weapon is not cheap. Commercial ammunition prices of 9mm, 30-06 etc are all expensive. I would guess the ammunition for the AR15/M16 and M1 are also up there.
QM Quality does not occur by chance. It is the result of intelligent activities.

I stated that I grew up in a fire arm family, and I should add that I live in a law enforcement family as well. I have two uncles on the police force, along with a cousin, and my best friend. I also have an uncle in the F.B.I.,and suprisingly all agree that this is a bad law. I am sure you have your reasons to support it, and they are emotionally held up high in your opinion. But I tend to go with fact by people who actually come in contact with this situation everyday. I also want to say that your reply was well written and intelligent. Not something you see when people speak of such issues. Thank you for that.
I have read this thread with a great deal of interest. It's remarkable how many different opinions have been politely shared. However, being dead and cool vs. alive and uncool seems to be naive.
It has been asserted that there are a basic set of three types of people. Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs. People who are sheep is not a bad thing to be. This type of person would never, intentionally, harm another human being. Probably 80% of the population (USA) are sheep. Happy, loving, caring and hard working people.
Then there is the Wolf. A person who preys on the Sheep and all of his possessions. The Wolf probably is about 15% of the population. The Wolf is a predator and will always be an animal preying on the Sheep. Then there is the Sheepdog. The Sheepdog will not harm anyone unless threatended. Also, the Sheepdog will protect the Sheep at the drop of a hat. The Sheep do not like to admit that the Sheepdog exists as it reminds the Sheep that the Wolf is out there. But, the Sheep is very happy to have a Sheepdog when the Wolf threatens. I would rather be a Sheepdog; alive, caring, cool, and available to assist the Sheep. The theory behind this rambling comes from an article of the "Killology Institute". A think tank created by a retired Lt. Colonel who was a Ranger in two wars. I forget his name, but not his article and Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs. Enough rambling. I thinkI will go to my back pasture and pop some caps. I love the smell of gunpowder and cordite in the early evening. Of course I will be taking a good cigar to smoke afterwards. That's my two cents

2 cents is right. I now know where to go when I want old fairy tales and old movie clichés.

I like to question things often. I like to think. How come you don't? Are you being facetious?
No I am not trying to be facetious. Sure in life I like to think and question, because I understand that I have free will. But I do not question the rules. I must be accountable for my actions as is everyone else. For me it is very black and white, but that does not mean I would not kill. I just must understand the consequences for doing so.
