There wouldn't happen to be another 17 acres next door up for sale, would there? Between you and me, those would be some of the safest 34 acres in AL! Plus, after every presidential election, we could drive by each others' houses and shoot up the other guy's political signs. Seriously though, I'm with you...how does it make sense that law-abiding citizens aren't allowed to own (let alone carry) weapons in the most DANGEROUS cities, while in safer, more rural areas people can be armed to the teeth? I wonder if there'd be so many muggings in big cities if the guys with knives thought their victims might be packing a Desert Eagle .50?

Thank God for the NRA! How can you hate the NRA if you are for 'arms'?

You won't consider shooting them in the leg or private parts? Awww man! You are no fun! lol.
I think it's best to maim so that the thugs can report their 'scars and wounds' to other thugs. Don't you think?

Unfortunately, unless you have the "Castle Doctrine" in your state, I'm afraid that the maimed thug will sue you because he/she can no longer earn a living carjacking or breaking into people's houses.
Empty your clip into them. When asked why you fired so many times, simply tell them you only remember pulling the trigger once and the next thing you knew you heard a click, click, click and realized you were still pulling the trigger.

I don't think any of us EVER wants to shoot someone. I probably wouldn't sleep for months ifI did. But I wouldn't sleep for months if I let someone come in and hurt a loved one. So if I'm gonna lose sleep, it's gonna be over defending my family, friends and property.

Your funny! The whole clip???
What a neo-con mentality y'all have.
I don't know about emptying a whole clip.

For those of you who live in trailer parks, remember that a good 9 mm bullet will go through all its walls unless its hits some big appliance and even then. Might be a baby crib in there.
But there is a lot more air out there than bullets and targets.

LOL Sounds like you have been to my house.
Hey, by the way, here in Alabama its open season on low life thugs found on your property and there is no bag limit nor do you need a hunting licence.......

As a former Special Operations Sniper I am really good at one shot one kill. LOL
Hydragoat,
You make a very good point here. When ever you discharge a weapon you are always responsible for anything or anyone that is hit by the round even if you are justified in shooting someone and hit the target if the round over penatrates and hits another person you are responsible. So always be aware of what is behind your target before you pull the trigger.

This is a tough question. My gut feeling is that one has the right to use overwhelming force in protecting one's personal property against criminals. Whether or not that means DEADLY force is a matter of particular circumstances and laws. I would use as much force as my local law allows (the law having passed the opposition of the ACLU and the likes of some of the sentiment here).
If someone breaks into MY HOUSE, shots WILL be fired. .40 caliber hollow points. Good stopping power. Reduced chance of ricochets or wall penetration.

According to the murder rate index for 2004, Victoria TX is ranked 21st, Dallas is ranked 27th, Laredo is 29th, Waco is 37th, Houston is 49th,Corpus Christie is 59th, Abilene and Longview are tied for 62nd, Lubbock is 65th, San Antonio is 81st.
Boston is ranked 147th and New York City ranks 102nd. Both of these cities have some of the strictest gun control laws in the US. Looks like the concealed weapons Law in TX hasn't helped much.
I think I'm going to replace the vinyl siding with good quality brick. Maybe I should have it double layered and laid so that the mortar on one layer is against the brick of the other.
QM Quality does not occur by chance. It is the result of intelligent activities.

Obviously more guns create more gun incidents and deaths, and you don't need some Rambo type military assault weapon or a .357 Magnum to protect your home (what is that big gun thing anyway ?) a simple .22 caliber can kill from a mile away. Also, if I were a criminal (I am not, believe me - I'm just a writer) and wanted to rob one of you gung-ho types, I'd use the advantage of surprise to shoot you in the back (or a mile away with my .22) and then rob you. So you'd be dead and robbed, instead of simply robbed. Just a thought, but maybe it will add to the debate.

That's kind of the point -- today's criminals will kill you for twenty bucks and a Timex. I don't think we're gung ho, just realistic. And I'll say it again: any of us would rather live somewhere with NO crime. Then all I'd need is a .22 Sig-Hammerli for plinking and target practice.

Now that is funny. So how often do you kill things or take target practice with your .22?

That is funny!!! You are going to kill somebody you intend to rob from a mile away.LMMFAO!!!!
Yes a .22 caliber has the potential for killing somebody from a mile away, but you would have to lob it there.
Fiction writer, right?
