For years I have kept my cigar diary in my head and on myriad scraps of paper. I just never took the time to start a proper cigar diary. Well, now I'm getting old and forgetfull. I just purchased a surveyors "field notes" book and plan to begin entering the new cigars I smoke, and of course, the ones I already enjoy on a regular basis.
My question is this: Does anyone already have a cigar diary that they may have created in Microsoft Excel or Word? Excel is most likely what you may have created a diary in as it is a database. If the answer to this question is yes, could you post it to the board, or maybe via Admin so they can scan it for crappy macro viruse's. Just a thought. I use the computer a lot and thought why invent something if already someone else has.

I created a simple spreadsheet in excel to track my cigar adventures. Nothing fancy, just a few columns that listed: Mfg, cigar type, cost, date code if avail., tasting notes, and a check box for yes or no as to if I would buy it again. I've kept it for several years, and helps me to 'remember' what I liked and didn't.

I went to the website and it was so close to what I was wanting it's scary. I dowloaded the PDF and will use it to keep track of my smokes. also, RebelJohn has a spreadsheet already made up that I'm asking him to share. Smoke friends do share I know.

About 10-years-ago I got a Cigar Dossier from the now defunct Cigar Enthusiast catalog. On each page was a place to stick a cigar band and to describe the cigar. Name, Size, Wrapper color, Price per stick/box, and what you had eaten just before smoking.
There was room for 3 cigars per page and there were abut 100 pages in the book.
I managed to fill one in a year.

Thanks for your reply. This dossier you mention is similar to the link Loco sent me. It was a PDF file, so I downloaded it and will print it out and use it in a 3-ring binder. It has only two entrys per page, but that's OK. And, it has a place to put the cigar band. If it's on paper or a Spreadsheet, I can't forget the information. Again, thanks.
Also, thanks to all who gave me a reply. It is much easier to ask if something is already available than to make it from scratch. This is a good Forum, and a friendly one. I'm glad I joined.

I've been using a free program called CigarBriefcase. It includes a database of about two thousand cigars and allows you to include pictures of your cigars.

When you add a cigar to "My Cigars", if the default text fields don't apply to your cigar, you can enter your own text. For example, if you add a cigar that is a Perfecto, you have to enter Perfecto in the cigar "Type" text box. The program will remember that the cigar you added is a Perfecto, but it will not add Perfecto to the default list to be used for another Perfecto you might add at a later time. Thanks for the info. I just this night downloaded the Cigar Diary you mentioned and have not as yet had the opportunity to open it for testing. I will print your post for refernece when I start the program tomorrow,
