I really wish that a Big Smoke would be held in Michigan before it's too late. There is a short period of time before the smoking ban will be official.

I second that, I think a Big Smoke in MI would be a great idea.

I wouldn't mind having Cobo filled with smoke, not to mention a few casinos in the city that could help make the Michigan Big Smoke a regional draw.

I think I would even come to the state up north for that.. Just kidding it would be cool to have one close to home.

A Big Smoke was here in Michigan about 10 years ago.

I don't think Michigan's smoking ban will pass the Legislature next year. The business community is PO'ed enough with the tax hikes of 2007, and the GOP Senate won't go for it.

That said, a lot of cities in Michigan, including Detroit, already ban smoking in convention halls and most other places, except state-regulated restaurants and bars. There aren't as many places to hold a Big Smoke in Michigan as you think.

But you could alway hold it at an Indian casino.

Who normally organizes the big smoke in Vegas and NYC? Is it an independent body or does CA plan it? The casino's in Detroit are very nice, especially the new MGM. I think one of these would be a great place to hold it.

Anyone know?

Big Smoke is held by CA.

Good luck getting one anywhere outside of NYC or Las Vegas. If they cancelled DC and Atlantic City, no way they're going to Detroit.
