make me crazy! They have become so stupid I can no longer stand it. About a year ago, I was so incensed by the Capital One barbarians, I called and cancelled my card. The girl asked the reason I was cancelling, and when I told her I would no longer do business with any company that sanctioned such stupidity, she sent me to a supervisor. They couldn't believe it was because their ads offended me so. Now every time I see the Geico lizard, I just want to roll up their money with the eyeballs, light it on fire and stuff it up his a$$. Same with the energizer bunny, the old guys who can't get it up without Cialis, and that stupid freakin french honeybee... I could go on and on. And what's worse, they show them repeatedly during the same game or show. Just who do these ads appeal to anyway??

I cannot stand the Geico, e-surance, the progressive insurance, Capital One, enzyte, and free credit report commercials. They make me want to punch a wall. Also this one pisses me off.

i agree... Plus I love that the commercials are like 10 times louder than the show you are watching... All of the sudden the TV is blasting because of a commercial. I take offense to it as if it were a salesman screaming at me.

Yea, I love it when I'm watching a baseball/football game, Animal Planet, Discovery, The Amazing Race,

..with my young daughters

And the inevitable commercial interrupts our conversation with...."and if your erection lasts more than....ask your doctor if you healthy enough for sexual activity".. OR recently because of Halloween, wonderful clips of Murder and Violence and Terror.

What a Wonderful World

Kiss to Build a Dream On

Sorry, crossing the "what happened to good music" thoughts with the "commercial" thread...but the points the same.

Finally, people who think alike!! How bout making 3-4 channels just for commercials? Then, if someone wanted to watch them, who knows why, then tune in and watch em all day long. Meanwhile, the rest of us can enjoy our programming.

I find them essential to go to the bathroom, mix a drink, rummage through the humi looking for THE smoke.
I also use the mute button a lot.

I'm with you guys. Anyone here have Time-Warner Cable? I hate their freakin commercials so bad, I considered switching to another provider. However, it wouldn't solve the problem of seeing their commercials all the time. I just use the mute button.

In that last 20 years(with the internet) consumer research has gotten a lot better and ad agencies now use hyper focused pitches to their most valuable demographics.

In the 1940s, it was a pleasant jingle to the public about how tasty Jello is. Now, Capital One for instance, is looking for men who enjoy thinking of themselves as barbarians, probably because they tend to spend belligerently and recklessly, therefore using financing charges.

Cheetos runs ads with guys stuffing them up their noses because the company knows their strongest buying group is twenty something men who like to play pranks.

Companies are catering to these groups and not realizing(or caring) they're alienating the rest of the public. Time will tell if this is a smart move.

Personally I mute commercials and watch little network tv. Something needs to be done about the sex, condom commercials for the kids IMO.

I agree, I cannot stand commercials over the last few years. The Insurance commercials are the wrost IMO. Geico (who advertises like they are going out of business tomorrow) has at least 3 different Ad campeigns going; The Geico Gecko - aimed at upper class, older people based on facts and a "cute" english/smart sounding voice, the Caveman Ad - for the younger/"hip" generation, and THE WORST CAMPEIGN of them all; the Stack of Money (have they completely given up on marketing ideas?) Who would approve the stack of money line if you were an ad creator? Absolutley pathetic, and don't say that they succeeded in getting thier ad across to me because I will go out of my way to never buy Geico, ever. And Flow from Blowgressive is just as bad, completely not funny and very lame.

Tivo and DVR is the greatest invention to kill commercials, I love blowing thru the ads. If I'm watching it live it gets muted. Think about it, from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed we are marketed to non-stop with annoying ploys and lame attempts to be funny. Go away crappy ads.

The Capital One Barbarians, Geico Lizard and Cavemen were good once. Let them go!!

Where is the creativity or is one ad agency doing all these commercials.

IMHO the best ones are Budweiser at the superbowl. They show them for a limited time and are gone befoire we get sick of them and they are well written and produced.

I couldn't agree with you all more! There are one or two commercials that I find bring a chuckle, one is about a product I can't remember but shows a couple driving around looking for their dog. When they finally find him, he takes off in the opposite direction. I get a chuckle out of it because the dog is a German Shorthaired Pointer (like mine) and they nailed the breed - mine's done the same. Otherwise, they are all dreck.

What really frosts me to the point where my head is ready to explode is the mortgage provider commercials touting that they can get you a mortgage even if you have bad credit. Isn't that what contributed so much to the real estate meltdown? WTF?!

Capital One commercials always have and always will be the stupidest ads on television....welcome to the era of the dumbing down of America. The "Black Taco" ad campaign has worn out its welcome as well.
