Haven't been on the forums for quite some time. Frankly, got tired of being insulted because I dared to ask questions related to the Iraq invasion and other foreign policy issues. I believe I was branded a "Liberal", based mostly on my oposition to the Iraq war, which I still find humourous.

I am suprised their is so little commentary about Saddam and his execution. I am glad he is gone and out of the way.

Interestingly, if you check global response to the killing of Saddam you will find that many were opposed to his execution. Those views are based both on some cultural oppostion to the death penalty and some wonder the same as I do about authorities.

I fear that his execution will continue to polarize the West from the East and points to fundamental differences between North American views and even our allies (UK, Italy, Spain amongst many others opposed his execution).

We still haven't solved the great debate about the US' legal or moral authority to wage war on Iraq to begin with, but I guess we'll never get around to that one.... :-)

Good riddance to Saddam.

We allowed him to be buried oin a public cemetary next to his sons. I predict withing 10 years the Baathists will be back and Saddam will have a tomb to rival Napoleon's in France.

We should rebuild the Reichstag and put martin bormans remains back!

The hanging and buried of Saddam Hussein is not anything to rejoice about.

It's merely a pivot point which will most likely lead to further sectarian violence and escalated number of deaths of American soldiers who are in Iraq.

All of that with a U.S. President who would not likely change his mind about the failed mission in Iraq even if 100 Americans were being killed every single day.

What would you do different now and what would you have done different prior to the invasion, given the information available then? Just curious. Plenty of people give their opion on what is wrong but I'd like to hear how they would do it differently.

Just curious.

Build a man a fire and he will stay warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he will stay warm for the rest of his life.
