We all have our opinions for me its got to be the Stones not only for their music but even more so for their durability. Their music crosses decades. My favorite song Gimmie Shelter. Enjoy the video i have included the lyrics so you may sing along.
Oh, a storm is threat'ning My very life today If I don't get some shelter Oh yeah, I'm gonna fade away
War, children, it's just a shot away It's just a shot away War, children, it's just a shot away It's just a shot away
Ooh, see the fire is sweepin' Our very street today Burns like a red coal carpet Mad bull lost its way
War, children, it's just a shot away It's just a shot away War, children, it's just a shot away It's just a shot away
Rape, murder! It's just a shot away It's just a shot away
Rape, murder! It's just a shot away It's just a shot away
Rape, murder! It's just a shot away It's just a shot away
The floods is threat'ning My very life today Gimme, gimme shelter Or I'm gonna fade away
War, children, it's just a shot away It's just a shot away It's just a shot away It's just a shot away It's just a shot away I tell you love, sister, it's just a kiss away It's just a kiss away It's just a kiss away It's just a kiss away It's just a kiss away Kiss away, kiss away

Yea Dylan's latest effort was to massacre some X-mas classic songs. Should be fun. Agree he is the greatest rock/folk poet out there. Named my son after him. Dylan.
Cor: Steve, you have proven yourself to be a tremendous whack job.
This is a tough one with me having several favorites, however, if I had to pick just one it would have to be Pink Floyd. With Roger Waters on vocals, plus incredible lyrics, David Gilmour on guitar, Nick Mason on drums and Rick Wright on keyboard, they get my vote for not only originality, but also incredible song writing. Never really were into them when Syd Barrett was with them, but he was great too. With albums like "Dark Side of the Moon", and "The Wall", they blazed a trail nobody else could even walk on.

That's awesome because now your son has the two greatest folk/poet singers names.

The Beatles. I love everyone of their albums and I don't think any band has come close to the growth of this band. Please,Please, me - Let it be. Could you imagine any band today putting out legendary albums every damn year. And every one of them evolving???? Hands down The Beatles for me!
Studio albums
* Please Please Me (1963) * With The Beatles (1963) * A Hard Day's Night (1964) * Beatles for Sale (1964) * Help! (1965) * Rubber Soul (1965) * Revolver (1966) * Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967) * Magical Mystery Tour (1967) * The Beatles ("The White Album") (1968) * Yellow Submarine (1969) * Abbey Road (1969) * Let It Be (1970
"Cuban seed tobaccos grown in Nicaragua and Cuba. The wrapper would be from Cuba. The binder leaves would be from Nicaragua. For the ligero tobacco in the filler, he would use two types, one from Esteli and the other from Jalapa in Nicaragua. The other filler components, seco and viso, would come from Cuba, the former from Villa Clara, the latter from Pinar del Rio. That Cigar, he says with pride, would score 100 points." -Don Pepin Garcia
The Beatles were a pop phenomenum that crossed generational boundaries. Their individual names were known from ages 8 to 80.
Their music was not particularly good. Apart from "A day in the life" and my favorite "Hello Goodbye" I cannot think of anything that stuck with me. Their rock was contrived and unnatural. Plenty of defunct bands get much much more airplay. The beatles made little girls scream & faint. But they never got a hard core rocker following. Remember their goofy movies and their saturday morning cartoons?
The Stones; now that's a rock band. There are others of course.
I hate to say it, but the Beatles are the greatest rock band ever. They have sold worldwide over 1,600,000,000 albums. That is 1 Billion 600 Million albums. My father loves them, I can tolerate them. I can see how at that time they changed music and rock n roll for ever. Without the Beatles maybe there wouldn't be the Stones, Who, Zep, ACDC, Hendrix? I don't know, but you can't change the facts.
