I must confess that I agree...but I have read some great interviews in the past with Carlos & Carlos jr. and some of the other great cigar makers of the world so I guess that's why I went the "hollow" wood route Smile

Unfortunately CA won't put someone we want to see on the mag. The general public won't know who the heck Frank Llaneza, Carlos Fuente, Benji Mendez, etc are. CA is trying to broaden it's base as a "good life" magazine, so I am afraid we will continue to get celebs or big money players (Bronfman, Wynne.)

Some non-Hollywood personality covers I have enjoyed:
Claudia Schiffer
Clinton/Castro
Hemingway
Supermodels of Cuba
Tommy Franks

Some genuine Hollywood types that deserved their cover:
Dennis Hopper
Coppola
Gene Hackman
Pierce Brosnan
James Woods
Jack Nicholson
George Burns

my vote is Heather Locklear!! wheather she smokes or not (usually I'm against non cigar smoking celebs on the cover, and there have been a few), but, I'd make an exception for her. wouldn't you buy that issue??

who knows, maybe she does smoke a cigar occasionally?

I second the vote for someone actually in the cigar business, I feel that would defintely be a plus. I know it won't happen because celebrity sells, but what the heck to me the cigar folks are celebrity.

If I bought them on the newstand and she did smoke cigars, sure because I like to hear about everyone's love of cigars..otherwise NO. If I want to know about heather locklear, I'll buy a trash celeb mag.(or just read one of my wife's)

Case in point...I would not have bought the one with the poker player on the front. I'm not saying it's not a good article because alot of people smoke cigars while playing poker, but not the cover while the cigar makers get snubbed.

Maybe if there was a cigar story involved, but the word "cigar" was not in the first 5 paragraphs...so I didn't read it.

BinDer is right. They want to the celeb appeal. It's more about "The Good Life". I won't stop subscribing, but I wish......(you know)

good point azsar!!

I can't stand reading CA articles that there is very little conversation about cigars.

I say, they should interview a guy like Binder. I mean he has an impressive selection of cigars and even grows his own tobacco. wouldn't you rather read an article about someone like this instead of some rich celeb who once smoked a cigar that was given to him/her backstage at the grammy's?

It would be awesome if they interviewed someone from the forums for every issue. they could make it a new part of the magazine. It would relate to us alot more, and involve all the good conversations that take place on the forums.

That's an awesome idea. In fact, they did it for an upcoming issue. Here is a transcript of the interview with Binder:

CA: So how did you get introduced to cigars?
Binder: I hate noobs.

CA: Well tell us about the man who posts as Binder. What does he do for a living, for fun, and how does he like to spend the weekends?
Binder: Read my profile you f( )cktard noob.

CA: That's very interesting. Tell us a bit about your own tobacco crop that you're growing.
Binder: Read the f'ing forum you NOOB Mad

My vote goes to CigarDave from the radio. I thoroughly enjoy his show when I happen to be near a radio on Sat or Sun. Excuse my ignorance if he has already been on the cover, I don't remember it. The forum member interview idea is a good one also.

Ain't that tough enough?!

Nah seehawk, binder only gets pissed if someone asks the same question thats been covered ten thousand times. I think he would actually be a great person to interview, he knows a ton, and has a great story to tell about his tobacco growing/cigar making project.

Oh I know Jadawin. I really enjoy his posts. Just trying to stimulate some conversation Razz

Cigar Dave would be a good choice. I really enjoy his show, although sometimes it seems like he's on Altadis' payroll.
