A UK judge says Al's propaganda piece needs to carry a disclaimer about its disregard for the truth
The judge does not have the competence to make an assessment of whether points of science are, in fact, correct or incorrect.
In order to rule on this issue in the UK, he enlisted the aid and advice of specific scientific advisors known for being climate change deniers, who offered their opinions to Her Majesty's court -- opinions -- that those nine points in Mr. Gore's film were in error. The judge then put forward those opinions as indisputable facts, which they clearly are not. In doing so, in my view, the judge was not only wrong, but egregiously so.
Another panel of advisors would have given the judge a completely opposite opinion on those nine points.

I didn't read the article, and don't plan to- However, I would like to congratulate Jack on bringing up a fine point we should all consider when listening to the environmentalists spew what they call "fact" regarding global warming.
The science of the earth is as undiscovered as the depths of the seas. We know so very little, and the experiments that have been preformed are so shallow that there is hardly any expert that can provide a reputable opinion. If you want a list of amazingly controversial information against this subject, I suggest reading Michael Crichton's "State of Fear."
The earth changes a millennium at a time. Again, I say to the politicians- focus on some things that matter today before you focus so fundamentally on the future.

If another panal would have given differnt opinions on 9 points, it only proves there are no "facts" being delt with-only opinions. Thus the judge was correct.
No facts at all, Gore is most likely a fraud and to prove so, he uses more energy than any ten normal Americans combined...

I'm not saying global warming isn't a serious issue, and I'm not saying mankind hasn't contributed to the latest 10,000 year warming trend over the last 150 years...what I am saying is Fat Albert's movie is intentionally alarmist propoganda with many scientific inaccuracies and that he personally is a hypocrite and has a bigger carbon footprint than 99.99999% of the American people. It cracks me up how the "intelligensia" fawn all over this bozo. To give him a Nobel Prize just shows how biased the debate is. What has Al Gone done for peace in the world? Giving him the prize is an overt political endorsement of his position that the end is nigh. Doomsayers come around every millenium. Al is no different than many mideavel Chicken Littles.

On issues of controversy, a person may hold a view with which you agree or with which you disagree. In the end, you may be found right and the other man found to be in error. But I just don't understand why so many guys here make such vehement, mean-spirited personal attacks on the person holding the view opposite yours, sometimes even stooping to deride the person's physical appearance, rather than refuting by argument the issue itself.
A research group of climate change deniers publishes a study indicating Al Gore's energy-using home has a large "carbon footprint". The sole purpose of the study was to establish exactly that fact, that Al Gore has a big house that wastes a lot of energy. Because from that point forward, conservatives no longer had to argue climate change on the basis of science; the message they now parrot, to a man, is "Al Gore is a hypocrite". Ergo, the scientific sources he used in reaching his conclusions can now be safely disregarded, and global warming is exposed as a liberal myth.
Liberal or conservative, we're all in this together. I wish we could keep this important debate about the issues, about the science, not on the private-life inconsistencies or physiognomy of the persons with whom you disagree.

The truth lies somewhere in the middle. We should all do what we can to better ourselves. The extreme views pushes us all to one side or the other and shifts the focus from finding a solution to disproving the opposition.
