I have a lot of non-Cuban cigars growing old in my humidor. From time to time, I like to pull one out and see if it is a better cigar than in previous years. I rarely see reviews of aged NCs, so I'll offer up a few.
I liked the El Jocko when it came out -- great shape. The wrapper reminds me of some of what Perdomo used to put on The Cigar: very thick and dark. But LFDs are generally well-constructed, and this cigar is no exception.
The flavors are definitely coming into the their own. A little spice and some dark cinnamon notes. The El Jocko is also a bit sweeter than I remember it being. Draw was very nice, a little on the firm side. Even though this is a small cigar, it seemed to last for a long time.
The downside? One-dimensional. The flavor is fine, which is good because it is the only one you get. It is the same cigar from start to finish: no surprises or complexity.
I am curious to see what this one tastes like in two or three more years. I still have over half of the original box.
