Been in a league for over 10 years now.... love every minute of it. I was lucky enough to get Payton, Westbrook, and Winslow all on the same team (although when I drafted them I wasn't too sure). 3-0 and leading the league as of now.

Well, where Westbrook saved me last week, he killed me this week...getting scratched for the big game on the Monday night stage... Down to 5th place, 2-2... David, how'd you do? Anyone else have anything to share about Week 4 in NFL? jag quote: We should be too big to take offense and too noble to give it. ~ Abraham Lincoln

With Tiki having his bye week, I started Thomas Jones and what a surprise that was. In addition to that, since Culpepper basically died on me, I have been platooning QB's from the waiver wire now and I had Charlie Frye going against Oakland. After a dismal week 3, I looked like the league coaching genius in week 4.
Looking ahead, week 5 looks promising. Tiki's back, still going to start Jones again against Buf., Marvin Harrison against Ten. and Smitty against Cle. (yes, I am licking my lips in anticipation of these match-ups for my stud receivers), Colts DST against the Titans, and finally Mr. Disappoinment that I just can't bench yet Mr. Antonio Gates. Since Oakland is so God awful and they play San Fran this week and Alex Smith is a free agent looking for redemption after a horrendous outing last week, guess he'll be my QB.

Here's my week three update.
A mixed bag this week: I did great in two leagues, but poorly in the third.
In the company league, I trounced my competition 88-38. Bulger was huge, as was Kevin Jones (finally) and a great mid-season pickup, Bernard Berrian. My record is now 2-2, and I'm in 6th out of ten teams. There is hope.
In the league I run, I had a tougher time. I lost 74 to 106. (Different point structure in that league). Benching the Atlanta D for Cleveland hurt me, and Kitna, Holt and Tomlinson weren't enough to counter his McNabb, Andre Johnson and Isaac Bruce. I'm in sixth place out of 12, and I'm 2-2. (Notice a trend here?)
In the shark league, which is a yardage league and goes only on points, not head-to-head wins, I vaulted from seventh place to third. I had a 900 point week, thanks to Bulger, Berrian and Maroney.

I got lucky this week and pulled off two really good wins in both of my leagues. Thanks to the JAGS QB and my RB from the Steelers. They almost won both league games for me on their own.

Do any of you think this is a weird year for the NFL... In our league only 3 of the top 15 players are RB's (Westbrook-7th, Johnson-15, Gore-15)...last year, it was almost the exact opposite...How 2nd year Berrinen in Chicago can place 24th over Tomlinson at 25th has to show something is amiss this season... Offenses are down, Defenses are up, and the up-and-comings in almost every postion are up-and-running as well, if not better, the the league "studs" of last year. It's working out well for my FF team...i pulled off a big win to put me 3-2 in 3rd and see a streak of opponents with good players on bye-weeks in the next 3 matches... Anyone else have any Highs/Lows worth mentioning? Any thoughts on this season? Not just FF players, but any NFL thoughts? jag quote: We should be too big to take offense and too noble to give it. ~ Abraham Lincoln

I had a 1-1 week this week in my fantasy leagues. The league I where I was winning almost every game I am now losing games and the league where I was getting pounded I am now suprisingly pulling out a few wins.

I do think it's an odd year (so far) in the NFL. Some of the big names just aren't producing. I thought I drafted well, but it's not panning out, at least not in my neighborhood league. Here's how I did in week five: COMPANY LEAGUE Finally putting some wins together here as I improved to 3-2 with a win this week. Odd league with wayyyy to much emphasis on defense, in my opinion. What do you expect? The thing is run by the wine writers. Marc Bulger and Greg Jennings helped me out here. I've moved into fifth place out of 10. NEIGHBORHOOD LEAGUE I am in big trouble here. LaDanian Tomlinson was severely limited by the Steelers D. Kitna was good, but I had Leinart on the bench, and he was better. I also benched Fred Taylor, which was a mistake. This loss puts me at 2-3, and in 10th place out of 12. My competition is faxing me the menu from the year-end restaurant, because for now it looks like I'm buying. SHARK LEAGUE I continue to do well in the shark league. I'm in third place, in spitting distance of No. 2 and not too far from the No. 1 team. (Cruelly, the other coaches have started a poll to see where the coach in the No. 1 spot will ultimately end up. They're betting No. 10.) I need to keep up the good work here. And this is without Sean Alexander.

OK, I love fantasy football again. I finally had a great week in my own league. LaDanian came alive with four touchdowns, and Torry Holt was no slouch, so I put up huge points to move me into seventh place (out of 12). More important: I'm in sixth place in points, which would mean a free dinner.
In the company league, I put up solid points but wans't able to win. I'm in the middle of the pack.
Here's a surprise: in my shark league, I had two RBs on bye (Maroney and C. Taylor) and one hurt (S. Alexander). All I had was Jabobs from the 'Jints. But QB Marc Bulger and Steve Smith were huge for me, and I moved from third place to second. Go figure.

The Chicago Bears ruined what was great production by Coles, Dunn, D. Jax...taking away my 4-2 third and putting me in a points race at 3-3 5th... Has there ever been a more pathetic display of offense then the Chi Bears last night... jag quote: We should be too big to take offense and too noble to give it. ~ Abraham Lincoln

It seems that my teams this week have started to reverse fortunes. The team I had that was cleaning up in my AOL league has now lost 2 in a row and my players just are not performing up to snuff.
In my MSN league I am doing significantly better. I had to add Phillip Rivers as my QB because the two QB's I had on my roster were on bye weeks and low and behold Mr. River's had a great game....(wondering if the Giant's made a mistake in their trade now)
Hopefully my teams can turn their fortunes around and both get going in a positive direction over the next few weeks. Consistancy is something I have not seen this year like I had last year. I'm constantly looking at the waiver wire to see who might be available.

First, I would hope this fourm could be used to discuss all NFL issues, not just fantasy...however, since that's the topic... How did everyone do this week...I snuck out a win by a point and am feeling lucky... I'm kind of nervous, however, that Hassleback is out...making me uneasy about starting D. Jax, and after Grossman's monday night fiasco, is he trustworthy in Week 8? Anyone else have anything interesting to report? Any thoughts on the NFL season...any Romo fans excited? Any Big Ben fans pissed off? Tiki is on a count-down and a free agent in the news room...and are the Jets the cinderella team this year? Thoughts? jag quote: We should be too big to take offense and too noble to give it. ~ Abraham Lincoln

My two leagues seem to be moving in opposite directions. In one league I am on a 3 game win streak and in the other I have lost two in a row. I was near the bottom of the first league I mentioned and at the top of the other...now my fortune has reversed and my position in both leagues has flip-flopped.
I've been hurt by Big Ben's injuries but picked up David Rivers and he's proven to be an unexpected asset. My kickers are inconsistant and when I think they'll have a good week one has a good week (while sitting on my bench) while my starter with the easier contest has a horrible game. My receivers have had injuries and that's been tough to juggle them. My RB also have been hit by injuries in both leagues and my replacements just haven't lived up to their hype and expectations.
I am just hoping I make the playoffs in one of my leagues......

Now that Thanksgiving is over, and the one-two punch of Big Smokes is behind me, I can focus a little more on fantasy football. We're heading into crunch time here. Here's where I stand:
COMPANY LEAGUE Who knew these darn wine guys watched football? I'm getting my tail kicked. The commissioner (no doubt bought out by Molesworth) set up the league to give all kinds of points to team defenses. If you can believe it, two Ds have scored more points than LaDanian Tomlinson. Sheesh. (Do I sound bitter?) I won big last week but it's kind of late. I'm ranked 8th out of 10 teams and I have zero chances of making the playoffs. Now I'm playing for pride--have to stay out of last place. Oof.
THE SHARK LEAGUE Things have gone surprisingly well here. I'm in striking position of first place. This is a yardage league run by my brother in law. Most of the players are former or current baseball players or coaches, and they must have ESPN hotwired into their brains. These guys are serious. But I'm in third place. My No. 1 draft pick, Sean Alexander, is finally healthy, so hopefully he keeps running hard. I'd love to win this one, if only to make my brother-in-law hate listening to my boasting at every holiday gathering.
MY LEAGUE The league I run has always been unkind to me. I've never won, even though there are two champs crowned each year (one for points, one for head-to-head.) I had a monster weekend, the last of the regular season, giving me a playoff berth. And I've crept up to No. 3 in points. The leader, my nemesis Stidolph, is out in front by a long shot, but he seems to be fading in the stretch. I wonder if I can hire someone to take out his Internet connection? I face my other buddy, Hofffman, in round one of the playoffs this weekend. Those wires leading to his house are probably easy to cut. Betcha I can swing things in my favor...
Let's see where I end up next week...

Amazing as it may seem both of my teams made the playoffs!!!!! I have an uphill battle in both leagues but at least I am still in the fight.

I managed to hold on to a playoff spot, entering at 6th place, and now facing a team that is really doing well. Our top 3 places get paid...so I'm hoping for at least one more win... I'm starting Romo (over Brady and Grossman) and am a little nervous...he's due to have a horrible game and New Orleans is tough right now. I'm kind of dissappointed that the FF season is almost over...i'm thinking of joining a FF baseball league just for something to do next... Anyone care to make Superbowl projections yet? Remember when people thought Miami and Carolina were the preseason surprises? I don't think the bears are realistic contenders anymore, either...I think if the Saints continue the way they are, they would make an exciting XLI contender...against the Pats? Colts? Baltimore? Thoughts? jag quote: We should be too big to take offense and too noble to give it. ~ Abraham Lincoln
