Hello,

I purchased a very good desktop CAO humidor late last year and it's been great until recently. It maintains about a 60% humidity. Here is what I've done:

1. When purchased new, properly seasoned and prepped it.

2. Re-wet the humidifier always with distilled water monthly.

3. Used Xicar humidification solution the last three months.

4. Put a second humidifier in it.

It is sealing properly as I put a flashlight in it, turned the lights off, and no light leaked out.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Damon

You're using too much "Humidification Solution"

The solution you are using is made from distilled water and Propylene Glycol. PG is an alcohol with a very slow evaporation rate.

When you use it too often you actually clog the humidifier with PG and there is no room for water.

Try to wash out the humidifier by placing it in a bowl of distilled water overnight. If this does not help, replace the humidifier and only use the solution once every 6-months.

What CAO unit did you get? I have the 'Black' model. With a splash of white and black paint on top. It goes through a ton of water...

Doc: I will do this. Thanks.

Ozz: I have the CAO that is covered in brown leather with a CAO logo debossed in the top.

Thanks,
Damon
