I plan on a AF Don Carlos Belicoso.

Good idea. Hard to believe it was five years ago. As I kissed my wife and boy goodbye this morning, I couldn't help thinking of the people who did that same thing five years ago for the last time.

Having lived in NJ on September 11, 2001 and having responded into NYC after the WTC events I have a very vivid memory of that day. From the call I got waking me out of bed and getting me to turn on the TV.

We must always remember and never forget that day and those that did not make it home that night. As an emergency management consultant and business continuity consultant I now work hard to make sure that we as a nation are better prepared for whatever may come our way. We cannot be dependant on the government for complete assistance. There just aren't enough resources we must all pitch in and give a hand....by good collaborative efforts we can make a difference and prevent, prepare for, and respond to events of this nature with better outcomes.

Sorry for the rant but this is what I have dedicated my life to now. I hate to see people burry their heads in the sand thinking that a disaster or emergency will never affect them. Everyone will need emergency assistance at least once in their lifetime. I myself have dialed 911 more than once. Every step we take to prepare ensures better outcomes. My best to you all. Have a good smoke today and remember those who make this world a better safer place for us all. I may finally break out the OpusX tonight. I know I have said it the past few days but I cannot think of a better way to enjoy the day than with an OpusX.

I lowered the US flag I have at the house this morning to half mast.

I plan on a cigar this afternoon.

Everyone must believe in something, I believe I'll have another cigar!

Can't help thinking about that day five years ago. We took a look back at some of our coverage on the homepage.
