I'm new to all this. Is there a FAQ on how to puff cigars? I bought a little $3 'Colita', the taste was nonexistent until the last 1/3 of the cigar. Is this normal? It was a very small cigar. Would a larger one have a more remarkable taste?

Welcome. There are so many things can that help you enjoy your cigar. Remember to take it slow and savor it. Take your time between puffs and don't inhale. There are tons of primers on the internet about how to properly cut, light, and smoke your cigars as well info on shapes sizes and names. Do a google search and you'll be flooded with sites. Just search around and enjoy.
Go to your local cigar shop and buy a bunch of singles and find out what you like. Don't be afraid to ask your tobacconist for recommendations as your new to the world of cigars.

Hello and welcome.

I tend to prefer larger ring cigars -- upper 40's or 50's. They seem to have the ability to develop more flavors/complexity. But there are small ones out there that pack a punch too, depends on the brand and style of the cigar. So the great fun is in experimenting to find what YOU like...

Nice primer Idesign. The only exception I take is that it states that as the temperature goes up, the RH needs to go down and when the temp goes down, th RH needs to go up. This is simply false and has been proven to be a myth over and over again. Famous Cigar should know better.

Now, did they say the cello should be left on or off? Wink

Thanks guys. The shop owner said it was a mild cigar, so I guess I should try for something more full-bodied. Any suggestions? Is it expensive to mail order cuban cigars?

Why? Is it against the forum rules, or is that just a tired question?

Wow check, you actually smoke those dogrockets. I agree with stogies picks and with Idesign on the onyxs because they suck. I actually like the camachos check but I think that is a really really bad smoke to suggest to a newb. Are you trying to mess with him?
