Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong forum (new guy here). I have two smallish humidors (one is 100 cigars or so, the other a bit less). I use a Madelaine circular humidifier in the smaller one, using Propylene Glycol. It seems to do the trick.

My newer, larger one, came with a plastic, rectangular piece of crap that I'm reluctant to affix to the top of my humidor. Any suggestions? I've seen Diamond Crown systems on the net, and some electronic ones, and of course every site on the Internet indicates that the system in question is the absolute best.

Is Propolyene Glycol the way to go? I like the idea of a system that is lower maintenance (though I am in the humidor several times a week, so it's not as if I ever forget it). I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks!

Hi there i have a Cigar Oasis XL in my 150 ct humi and it gives me about 4-6 months before a refill is needed. i am not sure if you want to shell out a $100 bucks. I allso have tried the humi beeds and they work great but not as much hassle free as the Oasis. Hope that helps a little. Good luck.

Charlie is right; for all of the time I spent messing with PG solution and tending to elements I would have been miles ahead if I had just bought an Oasis XL right from the start. No muss, no fuss and if you upgrade to a larger humidor the XL can be used to humidify an endtable sized cabinet no problem. The best $99 you will ever spend for cigar gear ever.

Hmm. Am not familiar with this. You guys are talking me into this. $100 is not a bad price for something that will do the trick (though I'm still interested in other perspectives).

Thanks for the quick responses!

Propylene Glycol should only be used in a 50% solution once every 6-months as it can actually clog your humidifier.

The rest of the time you should use distilled water only.

What do you guys think of the puck system? I have been smoking a very short time and only have a 50-60 count humi. Seems like the oasis xl would be overkill. I'm in it every day(for a smoke) so it's not like I cannot check it often. Distilled water sounds easier than any gel. Somewhere there is a complete puck, digi therm/hygro,and calibration kit for $39. I need a digi anyway. What do you think?

I use the Paradigm humidifiers in my desktops. They make three different sizes, and only needs distilled water added every few weeks..........

I use the 65% puck in my desktops; it works well and is low maintenance.

I purchased an Oasis XL for my Medici model humi, which is 400-500 count. I'm having trouble keeping the RH up.
Not to hijack the thread, but anyone think it's it's not up to the task?
I have two digital hygros that have been salt tested and the Oasis is jacked up to 74 currently and I'm barely keeping 62-65% RH!
Maybe I have a defective unit, but two messages to Oasis have gone unanswered. My cigars are starting to lose flavor!
