I've heard of people who love Tatuaje, and those who hate it, but usually not people in the middle. I myself found the Cabiguan be a poor smoke- tough draw, straw taste, flaky ash and light smoke. However last night I tried a J21 Reserva, and quite enjoyed it. Actually this one had quite a loose draw, but great ash that held on for inches and a pleasant, spicy flavor.
Anyone else lukewarm on the Tats? Some you love, some you hate?
Cabiguan kind of sucks, I agree. I smoked a few and they were kind of grassy with a wierd cinnamon thing going on -- at least, that's the best I can describe it.
Tatuaje, on the other hand, is probably my favorite non-Cuban brand. I'm not crazy about the Cojonu series -- too much strength -- but aside from that, I find all of the Miami-made smokes to be pretty impeccable in terms of construction and apperance and blockbusters as far as flavor and aroma go. I love the Taino, a 7 5/8 x 49 double corona. It's my regular Sunday smoke most weeks. The Havana Cazadore is an intentionally simple, bold lonsdale and I like that too when I just want a punch in the face of strong Nicaraguan flavor. But the Reserva churchill is great, too -- a milder Tatuaje but that's no bad thing. I started smoking those only a few weeks ago and go for them when I'm on an empty stomach.
I love all Tatuaje cigars.I just ordered 3 east and west coast samplers from these guys.http://www.2guyssmokeshop.com/ They are the only supplier i have seen that carries both. Can hardly wait to try them.

I've only tried one Cabiguan from a sampler pack and I too was dissapointed. But I love Tatuajes. I'm with E-cord on the Cojonu, just to strong. Everything else I've tried from the Miami line I have really enjoyed. Especially the Regios and the Tainos. Everyone keeps raving about the Cazadore but have yet to try it, I think it might be my next box purchase of Tatuajes.
The Havana VI line I have been kinda of dissapointed as well though. I've had six or seven of them and all but one had a very tight draw. The flavor was pretty good, but the draw was a real let down.
I've just recently tried one of the white label Tatuajes and was surprised. I thought it was pretty good for a three dollar smoke. These use the same leaf as the Havana line but uses both medium and long filler. Anyone else tried these? Thoughts?

The first cabaiguan I had was magnificent. Thereafter, they sucked: boring, grassy, lifeless.
I'm not crazy about all the Tatuaje vitolas, but the largest and smallest sizes they offer - the Tainos and Petits - are both superb. I've said it before, but the Tainos are perhaps the best double corona in the world - and I don't make the compliment lightly. The Petits pack a lot of flavor into a tiny, well built package. And for $150 for a 50 cab, they're a great buy.
The Noellas, though they've received rave reviews, are kind of eh.

I have smoked a couple of the Tatuaje Havana VI Hermosos that I purchased back in may. Both had very tough draws, I would have to say I was rather disappointed also.
I agree, The tats are by far my favorite NC line offered

I too found the Cabiguan to be a light smoke with a flaky ash but the ones I have smoked were very well constructed. I like all of the Tatuaje's (depending on my mood full bodied or not) and I especially enjoy the ones rolled in Miami as I have found them to be very well constructed.
