On a more serious note......I know about the salt test for your hygrometer. My question is do you have to do this every so often. Can a hygrometer lose its accuracy over time???
Analogue hygrometeres can fluctuate over time and need to be re-tested but I haven't heard that for digitals (doesn't mean it's not true though). I think it would be pretty hard for a digital to get out of whack though(at least any more than it was to start). Seems like it would have to be dropped or something. The digital I have now in my cabinet humi is years old and works just like it did when I bought it.

i have a digi and works fantastic, i dont think they will loose accuricy. i have only had to change the batteries 2 times and didnt notice any change in accuricy but if they did change probably thats when it would happen.

Just note what humidity the hygro displays when your smokes seem to be smoking their finest and use that as a guidline. Those little analog hygros are notorious for not keeping a calibration (let's face it folks, it's a string tied to a spring, not real scientific) so you should probably calibrate every couple of months if you want to be anal about it.
That said, I don't calibrate anymore. I just compare the reading to my electronic hygro and move it from box to box each month to see how far off each hygro is.
