I'm not a smoker and never have been..cigarettes or anything else.. I dont envision myself smoking cigars either..but I love the way they look & smell, as well as the different boxes, bands, humidors, and so on... so, with that said..is there anybody out there who collects cigars, but doesn't smoke them? If so.. are they just atored (or aged?), then when they want to get rid of them, they sell them off?

Ya, I was thinking every once in a blue moon, something might strike me to break some out and smoke with some friends.. but honestly think I'd probably just give them to the friends more than anything..or just look at them..ya, I'll probably just look at them././haha

Somebody recently posted about a walkin humidor project. Apparently this is being done by someone who rarely smokes cigars, but collects them. I say, what the heck, go for it.
Heck, get enough and age them well, you might find yourself vending to people who are into aged cigars.

I'm mean I have a larger supply of cigars then I need. I don't smoke often in the winter and in the summer I go through 1 maybe 2 a week. Even if I stopped buying cigars now(which I wont do) I would be set for probably 2,3 years.

That was I that posted the walkin humi project that as it turns out was built by a non-smoker/collector.
Check out the link and you'll see that some non-smokers do in fact collect cigars. Not really sure what the possible draw would be (pun intended), but I guess if people would collect beanie babies that have no actual use or merit then why not cigars?

Thats a good looking walk in humidor he built..I dont think I'd go all out like that..but I like the look of all the cigar stuff! I guess at least these can be given to guests, or maybe eventually I'd smoke one randomly..and if I can perfect aging, could sell them to those that like the aged cigars...and never have the temptaion of smoking them before they get a nice age on them! Is there any length of time that is too long to age something? Or perhaps..a perfect number of years in which they are just right, and any longer is a waste?
It depends On what type of cigars. As far as I know cuban cigars tend to age better. Go over the cuban cigar forum and look at the "best cigars to age from 06" thread. Of course there are non-cubans like Opus X that people seem to enjoy more after 5 or even 10 years of aging.

I enjoy the tranquil thrill -- but thrill nonetheless -- of seeking out, collecting and accumulating cigars as much as I enjoy smoking them.
But although the fun of collecting without smoking might be satisfying enough, I feel that it is like seducing a woman without making love to her at one point or another.
