Just curious, what do you all think of Thomas Hinds shops? I was in their shop in Winnipeg last week and found the prices to be overwhelming. Also, some of the Cohibas looked questionable as did the Montecristo's. The colors of the cigars in the boxes was not consistent and the No. 2's were not straight, some crooks on the finished ends. I did not feel comfortable purchasing them.
In Toronto one of the places you can be sure the CC's are real, but as previously mentioned, outer space prices! They cater to visiting movie stars and dignitaries who consider cost not an issue.

Yes, the prices are high, but I do enjoy the Toronto shop. There was another place I visited when I was last in Toronto. A cigar factory which imported all its tobacco from Cuba and rolled the cigars in Toronto. I can't remember the name of the place but I would love to visit there again. Does anyone know the name of this place?
EDIT: I have found the name, it is Frank Correnti Cigars. Has anyone else visited this place and what do you think of it?

I was just in Toronto a month ago and meant to get to Correnti but didn't make it.
All Thomas Hinds are longstanding, reliable tobacconists. I have never doubted their inventory. Cuban quality control allows the same cigar with differently shaded wrappers to get through. I've seen it at Casa del Habanos, too.
Besides the price on Cubans, I get sticker shock looking at Dominican cigars I can buy in the states for about $5 costing three times that at Hinds in Toronto.
Nice shop, though. Had a smoke in their lounge a couple weeks before the provincal ban in May 2006.

"Bud spelers of the word unight, and remumber: cabron is most abundent elemant in hte youknwverse"
Thomas hinds prices are abit higher then a few other shops. Cheers Smoke shop is the lowest priced cigar shop but with a smaller selection then Hinds. La Casa Del Habano also is a GREAT shop, and a little bit cheaper then hinds, but again Hinds is larger. Also Hinds has some cigars that are a bit harder to find like the Cohiba Sublime EL 2004 for example.
I was just at this place. I was very impressed with the factory. I loved walking through and talking to the owners son. He showed me all around and talked with me for about half an hour. I bought a Robusto to give them a try, but to this day, I have not tried it yet. I have too many premium cigars in the humidor to give this the attention it deserves.
I wish I had visited when the rollers were there. But I guess they went home at 5:00. I arived around 5:30. I will go back to see the shop when the rollers are there. The man, told me that they cannot keep up with demand.
I am only dissapointed with the construction of the cigar I bought there. The cap is not very well done. I'll smoke it and give a short review.
I think they are the only surviving factory in Canada who is allowed to import Cuban tobacco for cigar production. But I could be wrong.

I just went out and smoked my Robusto by Frank Correnti. Like I said. I wasn't expecting too much. Considering the look of the construction.
But Wow. OH boy. What a pleasant surprise I got when I smoked it.
Right from the start, it was very creamy. The draw was a little tight, wich remained throughout. I even re-cut it a little larger. But the draw remained the same. Smooth all the way through. Very even and cone shaped burn. Vanilla flavours with a bit of coffee.
I will be buying more of these cigars.
A quality cigar.
I give it 85.
But that doesn't mean much. I'm new at this.
