Well if anyone was in any doubt that the English premiership has been the outstanding league in the world for the past couple of seasons then the last few months have put that to rest. Manchester United vs Chelsea will be an epic encounter.
So (for all you with an interest in real football ) do Chelsea have enough to see off United? or will the gulf in class shine through?

You philistine Lucky .
Much as I like them United were fortunate yesterday. This evening's game was excellent. Benitez will cry foul no doubt, but Chelsea deserved it.

I agree Chelsea deserved it on the night but Liverpool probably would have been a better final. Chelsea have a strong defense and I can see them containing Manchester making a cagey game, Manchester to win it i reckon, 1-0 maybe.
Manchester for the league too, Chelsea to lose at St.James' park (cmon Newcastle! ).

I am generally not interested in club matches. I am more into international matches. Euro 2008 is nearing...now THAT is interesting. Group C has France, Italy and the Netherlands....talk about bloody matches.

I still maintain that Spain has the best league from top to bottom. The top four or five in the EPL are good, but there is a very sharp drop-off after that.
If Manchester plays the way they did yesterday, they will not beat Chelsea.

Maybe. But something of a moot point I feel. By the time the final comes around Rooney and Vidic will be back. Without Vidic the United midfield sit noticeably closer to the defence, which leads to a very defensie style. Without Rooney up front you have just tevez, who is really a hole striker. United's whole set-up against Barcelona was negative in the extreme, but then again- because of injury and the fact that they had failed to score at the nou camp, it had to be. Tuesday night was a huge tactical victory for ferguson.
May 21st will be an interesting game no doubt, but my hunch is that United have too much. (Best bet for the match- that there will be at least one red card)

I am excited for how this years Futbol tournaments have turned out. I still sit thinking that Liverpool and Barcelona are the best teams in the English Premier, but thats just IMO.
This finally should be a good one. Manchester has the upper hand 2-1 over Chelsea this year, but Chelsea did win the last match, plus one of the games that Manchester won was one Penalty Kicks. So it should be a good game. Gotta agree though that Liverpool I think would have been a better game.
Oh and Luckybreak I couldnt agree with you more on France, Italy and the Netherlands being in same bracket. AWESOME!

United was definitely lucky to get past Barca. If they field a full squad (Rooney and Vidic return), then I can see their superior ball movement doing well against Chelsea. That said, the blues can counter attack as fast as anyone and Drogba is a monster up front. I actually see it coming down to the wire one way or another. A higher scoring game with a lot of action favors United, while a more reserved game with stints of attacking favors Chelsea.
My prediction is a 2-1 win for United, but it will be controversial as Chelsea will have a goal disallowed on a questionable offside call.

as a dutch supporter i'm hopping we make it through the group stage.... holland has a great squad and would hate for them not to make it out in the place of either france or italy.... this is going to be good.
Man U should win v. Chelsea. i just hope they play it wide open and Ranaldo plays a strong game rather than flopping around on the ground.
