I lived in Texas for a few years before moving back to Oklahoma. One thing I found out, that was really cool were a few independent Cigar manufacturers in the Houston area.
One guy is Don Carlos Cigars in Houston. He is a Cuban who is a great guy! They don't sell any name brand cigars. Only what they roll. Their smokes are unbelievable! Carlos' sister rolls all their sticks. And they are incredible! If you look them up, ask about their "Fumas." You can buy a bundle for about $90. The Fumas are as good a smoke as a Dominican Montecristo #2! IMHO.
Another guy down there is Mako Cigars. I think he's in a city called LaMarque. This guy was a roller in a Cuban factory. He makes a bunch of really good cigars. His store is a real piece of Cuban culture too. He even has a little restaurant where you can get some real Cuban Sandwiches and enjoy a smoke and a drink. Very cool place.
I've really gotten into independent manufacturers. Their prices are well below name brands. And you can stumble into some really great smokes too!
If it's illegal, it's probably really good!
