That's B.S. Do you have kids? I doubt so. If you did, you'd know that this movie is being marketed to kids under the age of thirteen on Nickelodeon. The rating PG-13 is often earned for light violence. Light violence is expected and was in the first Transformers, however, the cursing was not. When Autobots and Decepticons are cursing at each other, someone went a bit overboard. Secondly, if you had kids, you'd know what it is like to have a six year old ask you everyday for the last two months, "How many days till Transformers, daddy?"

LiLo, Are you a parent? If not, don't even try to throw the bad parenting thing out there. You have NO IDEA until you've been there. So, are you a parent or not?

Believe me, I take personal responsiblity for taking my son to see this movie. I just felt it was unnecessary to litter the movie with swearing and sexual content. However, as I stated, my six year old has all the transformer figures and I just couldn't say no. Is that bad parenting? Sure, on some levels, one could say so, but I'm a softie for my kids.

Movies like Transformers are made for an older crowd, despite being based on kiddie toys.
The toy/cartoon culture has expanded way above the Bugs Bunny age group. Computer games and even the cartoons in Asia have long targeted the teen to the "old creepy comic book store worker" age groups for years.
If you notice, there has been a huge effort in the sound mastering, especially the low frequency (bass) in this movie. This is to specifically to cater to the BD player community with HiFi setups....none of whom are 6 year old kids.

That's B.S. If the movie is made for an older crowd, it is marketed to the younger age groups. By your premise, there should be no ads on Nickolodeon, Disney and there should be no transformer toys...

Nah, as usual you just want to impose your own narrow grasp of things by repetition.
Do you even own a hifi system, Presley? Do you even have a concept of what kind of sound mastering was done in this movie? What kind of LFE it will produce in a high end home system? You really think they did this all for kiddies?

All action movies are made that way these days, Transformers is no different. Secondly, who friggin cares about the sound? The sound has nothing to do with this thread. I couldn't care less about the sound or who the movie was made for. I know who the movie was marketed to. Do you have kids, Sobek? Do your kids watch Nickolodeon? Do they see the previews every ten minutes? Doubt so.

Exactly. You don't have a clue, Presley. Not all action movies are made like this. Very few are in fact. There is a difference between loud explosions and the low frequency you find in certain movies. If you don't understand this difference, then you have no comprehension as to the market they are trying to reach.
LFE sound is mastered into movies for the blue ray market. Most movie theaters, aside from a few select IMAX, don't even have the setups to play sub 30 hz frequencies near flat or at response levels that are palpable. We are talking a market of people with audio systems that are at least several thousand dollars, at the minimum.
You honestly think they spend all that time/money/effort in production for a kiddie movie when most theaters can't even play those sound levels?
And I never said they excluded the kid market. They are aiming to included several markets, of which the primary are probably those older than little kids.
Didn't the fact that Megan Fox was in the movie tip you off that you wouldn't be taking your kid to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?
If you have issue that they advertise to kids, then fine. But don't feign like you did not know this movie was made to include older age groups.

Sobek, as usual, your contribution to this thread is irrelevant. Who cares about the sound or how it was made. What does Megan Fox have to do with anything? If you had seen the movie, you'd know that Megan Fox did absolutely nothing sexual whatsoever. However, a female decepticon tried to seduce the lead character. Megan Fox was in the first one as well and nothing inappropriate happened there.
BTW-WTF does the sound production have to do with anything...
Again, I'm sure everyone here who sees a movie preview says to themselves, "Surely, I cannot take my kids to this movie, the sound quality is...just...too..damn...good."

How sad that a discussion of an action movie is so far over your head.
Adding "rolleyes" to your non-points just underscores your ignorance.
You can't even recognize what is smacking you in the face. Megan Fox + incredibly expensive sound mastering intended for the after-theater market + some off color words = an older age group target audience.
Obviously they will advertise to kids as well. They want as many people as they can get. But if they start out with a kid movie, they are limited in their audience. A movie like this can sell to a broader spectrum.
Are you so simple that you can not understand the point about sound? They include high quality LFE to target the BD player market. This has nothing to do with kids. My God man, you can't be that dense.

I get what your saying, as I said above. I said who cares?
