When the first episode came out, my roommate saw it and knew that I like motorcycles and thought highly of Ron Perlman as an actor.. so he informed me of it.
I watched the first episode and have seen every single episode since. I think it's an AWESOME show!
Anybody else down with SAMCRO?????

What about it do you find lame? I think it's really cool.

I've watched a few episodes and am open to watching some more. The problem is that if you miss one or two, you have no idea what is going on. I wish each installment was a little more independent of the others.
I find what they do on a day to day basis as SAMCRO mundane and boring. What they do for retaliation is awful weak. The most hardcore thing I saw done on that show was the removing of the tattoo from the guys back. When done they all looked like they felt bad for what happened and were about to puke. How weak is that? I mean come on get a backbone. If you do something like that it's business and part of the code you have. So don't get all weak when you have to do what you have to do.
I have made aquaintance with and hung around enough "real MC's" to tell you the show misses the mark.
Some where out there a Bandito, a Son of Silence, Satans Disciple, an HA, or a Leather Neck is laughing, going WTF.
Read my signature again to yourself and really pay attention to the words at the bottom and you will also see why.
At least the Sopranos even had real mobsters going whoa who told them we been doing that and some of the actors were actually being investigated for ties to the mob.
SAMCRO is just my opinion. You would have to meet me to understand and pal around for a while to get where I'm coming from. Before I did what i do now, I lived a career like the Shield for 7yrs. That show is as real as you can get for LE crossing the line.
PS-Any body got any Frank or Dino I feel the urge to listen to some good music.

I love 'The Shield'. I import the Region 1 DVDs from America whenever they come out. __________________________________________________

I've befriended enough bikers, played at enough biker bars, and even played guitar at an MC member's wedding to also know that the show is not true to real life.
I like that there is a certain amount of conscience to the show, though. I wouldn't call it weak..
I also have enough police officers in my family to know that The Shield is relatively full of sh*t too...
I don't really understand how your signature is relative to what we are talking about... ??

Ditto.
As far as "weak", well even though it's on FX it's still not pay cable like HBO so you can't say FUC<, show the hazing that 1%ers do, and show rape on the pool table...just sayin'.

I lived with a Bandito and went to a few parties/get togethers. Those people are crazy. Those are some hardcore freaks. I have never been more scared at a place where I was supposed to be having "fun."

What my signature has to do with it is in one word located within it. If it doesn't jump out at you, then unfortunately I am not at liberty to explain further. Sorry no offense.
As for the SAMCRO, my knowledge and experience goes far beyond the "befriended" or aquaintance stage. (Again not at liberty to discuss.) But yes you can find MC's that have members who are easy going like the SOA characters. But those are the minority of what I have been with.
As for living a "Shield" type career it depends on your department and how well the guys in that group can keep it quiet. I would say, that what you see in one episode of Shield we would experience at work in about a week. Keep in mind my crew were guys who had gone to Jr. High, Highschool, and through College together. We were not just patrolmen and weI went well beyond our job descriptions to work with CI's, Operatives, Undercovers, Drug Task Force Under Covers and so on.
We all did SWAT for the department and got very close to both sides of the action and was able to move around in the circle of the Shield types and their contacts. You have to have a certain mindset to operate like what you see in that show and we did it on a daily basis. Funny thing is we were the best of our whole department. We drew the line at going across it, we did however walk on its outer fringe as a crew. That made us very effective in denting the crime rate.
One reason why my resume caught the eye of Blackwater Worldwide for an Iraq tour. Like I said you would have to meet and hang with me or some of my "friends" to fully understand. It's a brotherhood for a better definition.

Hey guys don't get me wrong, Sons of Anarchy is entertainment. I know they will mess it up from time to time just like with police shows.
But for me to like a show like that it needs to be a bit more ruthless and hardcore. Even Sopranos would get soft on me from time to time. I would walk away thinking the episode was lame. Then I had to remember we were looking at BOTH sides of the life. Same with SAMCRO.
I can see why people want to watch the SAMCRO. It does have some appeal.
p.s.- if its any consolation there are some chick flicks i like to watch with my wife and stuff that is not what your typical guy would watch. like, the fastest indian, and second hand lion....Spanglish
