In the time that I have spent recently perusing the forums here at CA, I am noticing a trend that I didn't expect, and that trend is college students that enjoy cigars. Being in college myself, it has been next to impossible to find someone at my school who enjoys cigars like I do.
I'm only 20, but have been smoking cigars for several years. When I first began I thought I was entering a world inhabited predominantly by seasoned veterans. I'm glad I've found that I'm not the only young gun on this site collecting and sharing cigar knowledge.
As you can probably tell, my university's cigar culture is lacking, maybe because of the lack of B&M's nearby. Feel free to share what your's is like.
Have a good one y'all!

There aren't many college smokers because cigars are expensive and time consuming. It's something that a lot of older people use to relax in their downtime. College students typically don't want downtime.
I smoked cigars when I was in college in 1964. Of course they were Wolf Bros. Rum Crooks at five cents each, but they were good back then before I knew what real cigars were all about.

Yea, i dont think there are any B&Ms in college park (dont have a car so i havent REALLY looked hard) so i get most of my stuff online or at my B&M at home. I havent run into anyone smoking while i have (seen a few cigar butts in ashtrays tho) but i usually buy a bundle of cheap stogies to smoke with friends and actually got 2 good friends to pick of desktops and cigars for themselves.
DAMN, Im Thirsty! I want a beer, how bout you? You want a beer?
I'm too am a college student, I find that since I don't have time to enjoy cigars regularly, I decided the best say to multitask is to read my text books while enjoying a cigar, which, makes the textbook more tolerable. Btw, I am from The University of Texas at Austin, where do you fellow aficionados go to school? It'll be really cool to meet some of you if you are nearby.
"Is that a Churchill cigar in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"
I started in college, 1994. I worked a summer job at a state park and the guys smoked gacia vegas crystals and parodis. From there I went to Baccarats, macanudo, and te amo. When I got a job and started making good money I bought better smokes and just finally got a nice humidor.
At school, the only B&M was about 8-10 miles away and I didn't have a car until my junior year so it was few and far between until I was about 21.

Almost all my friends enjoy cigars weekly. However, they are still in the "primitive stages". Meaning, that hey still enjoy a helix or acid. I've been past that stage for while. So, I know one or two people my age that like a quality cigar, and have cigar knowledge.
I'm at the University of San Diego. I once saw a girl smoking a cigar outside of the library...I think she was finishing homework or something of that sort.
I know a few sporadic cigar smokers, but nobody that is a connoisseur so to speak. I definitely agree with the fact that most college kids these days are always in 6th gear and don't have the time to enjoy a good cigar.
I don't know why I haven't tried smoking a cigar while getting reading done, it's a genius idea. I guess I just saw it as mixing a great pleasure with a great pain....I'll have to try that one soon.

Yea reading while smoking a cigar is definitely one of the best decisions I've made this year. But I will never smoke a great cigar while reading because I cannot fully concentrate and enjoy the cigar as much. And Jiggedy Jared, you are forgiven for being an aggie

D@mn! What a coincidence. I'm a UT grad, class of 03.
Just graduated from Arizona State. Taking my grad $ to the cigar shop to stock up. I will be wanting to pay off debt so i figure i should get them while i have some liquid cash.
I think that cigars are catching on among my friends. All the free smokes i give out is an investment for good company and it seems to be working beautifully.
I just turned 21 a few weeks ago and am a junior in college. I go to a smaller Christian college in Grand Rapids where we have to sign contracts sayin we wont smoke or drink... ya no fun. Actually one of my best friends who also goes there is on the forums here and feels the same way i do about the rules there. So theres no smoking on campus or really recruiting more people for us.

I sure wish I knew about how great cigars can be when in was in college. For me, that was back from 1965 through 1970 for a BA and MA. And, at that time, I was smoking 1 to 2 packs of cigarettes a day. How disgusting, in retrospect, but at that time it seemed like more people smoked cigarettes than not at college. We smoked during class, at the Commons (hangout/restaurant), fraternity house, dorms, you name it.
It's great to see a lot of college age guys here who enjoy cigars! Also, it's great that the CA forums have guys from all ages.
