If you could live anywhere in the continental United States, where would it be? Please don't say where you live now, this is an excercise in fantasy. However, if you have to choose where you currently live, you had better have a good reason(s)! LOL
Really, where is the hands down best place to live? Climate, crime, activities, art, cigars, whatever, just don't include schools. This is for adults only please.
I would live high in the Colorado Rockies. I love it so much we visit there every year. I have been going there with my Mother and Father and now my wife and sons for over 35 years. My mother and father still go with us along with my brother and sister and their families. My wife and I will retire to a mountain home.
I live in the Blue Ridge and, although they are beautiful, they do not compare with the Rockies. Also, the Rockies are much less populated - that in itself makes them more beautiful.

I will play this game while trying to wake up with a double latte.....
..for me ......I really enjoy escaping to Vail Colorado......I feel very warm and spiritual there....however.....New Mexico wouldn't be a bad place to reitre in a nice adobe house in the mountainous desert.

Grand Tetons. We go and climb there at least once a year, and it has to be one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been to in the U.S. Not a lot of people, amazing lakes.. Now if this were a question about anywhere in the world, not just the U.S., then I would say Spain, or Costa Rica. I love both places.

Wow! Those are good choices up there.......Hmmm. As for me, I would love to be somewhere touching the Gulf of Mexico/Carribean Sea.

I think that I would have to split my time between the sothern colorado rockies (Great, now I am on the band wagon ), and the North Carolina App. area around Ashville.
Both have thier benifits. I would love to live in the south again for the food, people, friendliness, weather, and in the rockies you have peace and quiet, gourgous landscapes, awesome to be in both.
Good thread....now I am depresed and want to move.

Since this is fantasy, I would have to say there are just too many good choices to name just one. I happen to be from Southern California which offers so much in one place. If I wanted to, from where I sit in my office right now, I could leave and within 45 minutes be at the beach. Or if I went in a different direction I can go to Lake Arrowhead at Big Bear and be there in just about an hour. Or if I went yet another direction I can be in Palm Springs and be surrounded by mutiple world class golf courses and resorts. If I chose to go another direction I could be in beautiful Santa Barbara within 2 hours. Or I can get on I-15 and speed along at around 85mph and be in Las Vegas in 3 short hours. Did I mention San Diego is only 1-1/2 hour away. Doh!!!!! Thats right San Diego is part of Southern Cal.
When people think of SoCal they often think of the crowded conditions without giving thought to the many mini-paradises found here.
So, with that in mind I pick....hmmmm.... CABO SAN LUCAS!!!

I have lived in my neighborhood since 1947. It is a good neighborhood with low crime, good house values, near all transportation, good schools, walk to shopping.
If I had to move away from Forest Hills I would like to live in South Florida.
Warm and sunny with occasional hurricaines and impossible humidity in the summer. Why would I want to live anywhere else?

...My wife and I are currently relocating to southernwestern United States (New Mexico). I'm extremely happy with our location and the fact that we have "acreage".

All awsome places imo. Dee Dee, you might want to rethink the Gulf of Mexico...lol. It gets a little windy here sometimes.
I spent a great deal of time in the Co. rockies and in the deserts and hills of New Mexico. The smells, textures and feel of the air on your skin there is truly unforgetable. I crave winter in NM with the smell of the fireplaces burning in Taos and Santa Fe. Magical place.
In the winter I want to be in San Diego or the Gulf Coast , , in the spring Washington DC for the cherry blossoms , the summers in the Hamptons & New England for the fall . , or I can just stay right here in da Burgh & suffer with the snow & slush in the winter the heat & bugs in the summer , the falling leaves in the fall & the mud in the spring , ahhhhh yes its home ! hahaha
Enjoy, Vince
